Great Commission Society Prayer Diary June 2015 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 6th 7th 8th 9th 10th 11th 12th 13th 14th Pray for the people of Nepal attempting to recover from last month’s earthquakes that killed thousands of people. The latest quake could be felt as far away as India, Tibet and Bangladesh. Pray for the people that will be feeling terrified and under emotional distress from such devastation. Nepal has become a hub for humanitarian aid in the wake of the last disaster, with dozens of relief workers now based there to send help deeper into the countryside. Pray for safety and wisdom for the aid workers as they support the people of Nepal. As the dust settles on the 2015 UK General Election, the Conservatives under David Cameron will form the next government. Pray that this government would realise their need of God’s guidance and strength. (1 Timothy 2:1-3). Pray that the new government would allow the Gospel to be spread and proclaimed unhindered across every level of society. Pray that the Gospel would reach every one of the 63,489,234 people that live in the UK. Give thanks to God for all of the people both out in the mission field and back at home, who sacrifice their lives, time, energy and money to serve God through a variety of different evangelistic projects within GCS. Pray that every person in the world still sitting in darkness might see the great light of Jesus Christ and His Gospel (Matthew 4:16). Pray for believers across the Middle East and North Africa who suffer in silence for their Christian faith, cut off from family and isolated from Christian fellowship. Pray that God’s presence, protection and provision would be felt by these people. Pray that the Gospel of the kingdom might be preached in all the whole world as a testimony to all the nations (Matthew 24:14). Pray for Yemen and its dense population of 26,023,401 people. Tribal society in Yemen leaves no room for Christianity. Tribal law and customs prohibit members of the tribe from leaving the tribe or, in the case of women, marrying out of the tribe, especially to a Christian, often with the punishment of death or banishment. Pray for Muslim Background Believers who face immediate death if they do not convert back to Islam. Pray for their safety and protection. Pray for stability in a country deeply divided and torn by violence. Pray that the global Church might catch a fresh vision of the lost multitudes and be moved with compassion by the Spirit of God to fulfil the Great Commission (Matthew 9:37-38). Pray for the Christians across the world that are harassed, discriminated against, slandered, unjustly accused, summarily arrested and sometimes imprisoned, beaten, exiled or killed. Violence comes both from governments and religious extremists. Pray for change in the spiritual climate. Pray that God might send out more and more labourers into the harvest fields (Matthew 9:37-38). Pray that the churches and believers that stay behind might dedicate themselves to sending out missionaries in a manner that is worthy of God (3 John 1:5-7). Pray that each of the GCS evangelists will be passionate and on fire for God as they share the Gospel across the world, and as they lead training events to teach Christians how to do evangelism. Pray that God might open up doors for the Gospel to be preached in all places and to all peoples (Colossians 4:3). Pray that God might grant boldness to Christians so that they will have the courage to proclaim the Gospel in every opportunity (Colossians 4:3). Mark 11:17 My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations. “Equipping hundreds; to teach thousands; to reach millions; until the Great Commission is completed.” Great Commission Society Prayer Diary June 2015 continued 15th 16th 17th 18th 19th 20th 21st 22nd 23rd 24th 25th 26th 27th Pray for sufficient funding to come into the GCS general account to cover basic mission costs for work being done in countries struggling against poverty in the third world. Sudan, officially known as the Republic of Sudan and often referred to as North Sudan, has a population of 39,369,000. This number consists of 164 people groups of which 132 remain unreached by the Gospel. Pray that God will raise and send passionate believers to share the Gospel in this nation. Pray for the safety of the GCS missionary based in Sudan. Pray that God continues to provide needed resources and motivation. Pray that God brings life to those who live in spiritual darkness. Give thanks for those in Sudan who are beginning to follow Jesus as a result of the preaching of the Gospel, dreams, miracles, or the testimonies of changed lives. Pray for the salvation of the many people that have heard the Gospel and not yet given their lives to Christ. Pray for good and positive relationships to be built up between the local missionary and the local community. Pray for God’s grace upon those Christians in Sudan who are being discriminated against, marginalised, detained, imprisoned, tortured and even killed for their faith in Jesus Christ. Pray for Andrey (GCS Missionary) and Annetta in the United States as they take time out of full time missions to prepare to get married in September 2015. Pray that God will use them both mightily as a couple for His purposes. Pray for the GCS team in the UK planning different evangelistic events in the lead up to the summer holidays. Pray that the missions will be well attended and that many people will come to know the Lord Jesus Christ as their Saviour. Pray for the world to be set free from the stronghold of lies and arguments that the god of this world raised in their minds against the knowledge of God. Pray for their hearts to be softened and prepared to receive the word of God and be delivered out of darkness. Pray that the church throughout the world would follow Jesus’ words to love and pray for their enemies (Matthew 5:44-45). Pray that the church wouldn’t just sit back and watch a physical war take place, but that they would fight with the most powerful weapons: prayer, fasting and love. Saul was a perfect example of a man who thought he was doing the will of God but was mistaken (Acts 9:1-3). Many of the ISIS members as well think they are doing the will of God. Pray that, like Paul, they would see the light of Christ. Pray also that in the presence of this light all darkness would have to flee. Pray that the light of Christ would expose all lies and reveal Jesus. Pray that God would give the ISIS members a hunger to really know who God is, and like Saul that they too would say “Who are you Lord?” (Acts 9:4-5). Pray that they would be willing to give up all previous ideas to really know God in an intimate way. Pray that ISIS members would respond like Isaiah, who in the presence of the Lord and in the realisation of his greatness and holiness, saw his own dirtiness and cried out for mercy (Isaiah 6:1-7). Pray that they would see their uncleanliness and would cry out for mercy. Pray that they too would find the cleansing power of God through Christ. Pray for the GCS team in Italy as they start working closely with schools and universities to structure key lectures within the curriculum. Pray for God to open new doors, and strong relationships to be bridged with secular education. Mark 11:17 My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations. “Equipping hundreds; to teach thousands; to reach millions; until the Great Commission is completed.” Great Commission Society Prayer Diary June 2015 continued 28th Pray for the evangelistic efforts taking place during the MILANO EXPO 2015. Pray for the different ministry teams of missionaries handing out evangelistic literature and engaging in one-to-one evangelism. Pray that many seeds of the Gospel would be sown. 29th Pray for the Board of Directors this month that they would be Spirit-led in love, wisdom and vision as they seek to advance the global ministry of GCS. 30th Pray for wisdom and strength for the many people that spend many hours travelling throughout the year to spread the Gospel and teach people how to do evangelism. Pray for safety in travel, prioritise time to be with God, productively prepare, develop and correspond.
