Christmas Program
By: Abby Dobra and Ava Menold (5th grade)
Light House Academy middle school produced a
Christmas skit that we performed at the fellowship hall.
The way we put this skit together was by all writing a
little bit of the parts for different people to play. After
that, we collected all the suggestions from all the
students and combined them into our skit.

also performed some songs using bells, glasses and
goblet rubbers. Mr. Ramseyer showed us how to tune the goblets with different levels of water. It was challenging but fun! The elementary
students shared the story of Jesus’ birth with speaking parts and songs. After the program was over we had time to talk and have baked goods and
refreshments. Our Christmas program was a success! Thank you to the many family and friends who came to support us!

Civil War Snacks
Ring Those Bells!
By: Ivan Carlson, Megan Deets, Sierra Stahl (4th grade)
and Timothy Ricketts (3rd grade)
By: Alyssa Kieser (6th grade)
Light House Academy gets to ring bells for the Salvation Army each year. Our
location was at the grocery door of the Allen Road Wal-Mart. We sang Christmas
carols while we rang bells. All of our students and teachers were divided into three
groups to cover the morning shifts. After our shift was
done, we went back to school to drink hot chocolate
and watch Christmas movies.
Do you know any Civil War snacks?
During our Civil War chapter, we made two treats called
Johnnycakes and Hardtack. The Hardtack is like a cracker
and was a food the soldiers could easily carry. It was hard
and didn’t have much flavor. It was so hard that you had to
dip it in tea or some type of liquid to make it softer. The
Johnnycakes were tastier than the Hardtack. They tasted like
pancakes, and they were sweet. They were both very fun to
make!
Recently at the Salvation Army awards ceremony, we
found out that Light House Academy won first place in
our division!! Our kettle collected $845.35!
Ringing bells is a great way to have fun and to raise
money for Salvation Army.
Field Trip Day
By: Miss Berchtold with Brooklyn Wieland, Lily
Zimmerman, and Selah Huang (Kindergarten)
We were very excited to go on a field trip to the
Riverfront Museum. We watched a movie in 3D called
“Extreme Weather.” Mrs. Meister and Mrs. Tkaczyk’s
classes went also. After eating lunch at McDonalds, we
went bowling at the Peoria Christian Center.
It was fun to watch everyone bowl! School is so fun, and
it’s hard to believe we only have about three months of
school left!
Going For Gold
By: Justin Ricketts (7th grade) and
Lauren Hougham (6th grade)
This year the middle schoolers have again
had the privilege to participate in River City
Gymnastics. We enjoy it so much! We have
been learning how to do back and front
flips, cartwheels, somersaults, roundoffs, and
cartwheels on the balance beam. We have also
learned how to jump from the lower bar to the
higher bar on the uneven bars.
Our teacher, Brandon, is very patient and kind. He helps us accomplish our goals, even when it looks hard. We get to exercise on the
bars, beam, floor, pit, and vault. Gymnastics is a lot of fun, and we hope to do it again next year. Make sure that you always go for gold!
Spirit Week
Steele Jude is here!
Have you ever participated in Spirit Week? It is a fun and
encouraging week with fun games and activities. On Monday, we
decorated the school in our school colors, red and black. Then, on
Tuesday, we all dressed up as our favorite sports team or player.
On Wednesday, we wore creative hats, homemade or storebought. On Thursday, we wrote an encouraging note to everyone
in our class; we also got to wear comfy clothes. Finally, on Friday,
we had Wacky Tacky Day. We had to wear the wackiest clothes we
had that did not match. We hope you will have a fun time if you
do Spirit Week and participate.
Mrs. Tkaczyk had a baby, and his name is Steele Jude. He was born on
November 16th. He is 3 months old. He is cute and chubby. He smiles a lot!
He has one brother, and his name is Titus.
By: Layla Hoerr and Will Dutton (4th grade), Myles Zimmerman
and Emily Dobra (3rd grade)
By: Aubrey Menold (2nd grade) and Gabriel Huang, Santana Hoerr,
Sydney Hougham, and Lucy Deets (1st grade)
While Mrs. Tkaczyk was gone taking care of Steele, Mrs. Stahl was our
teacher. She was really nice and fun!
We are going to miss Mrs. Stahl, but we are glad we get to have Mrs. Tkaczyk
back and see Steele and Titus at school in the morning.
