Jack and the Beanstalk
Once upon a time there was a boy name Jack who lived with his mother. They
were very, very poor. All they had was one cow.
Early one morning, Jack’s mother asked Jack to take their one and only cow to
the market and sell her as she had stopped supplying milk. So, off Jack went. On
the way to the market, Jack met a man. He gave Jack some magic beans in exchange for the cow. Jack took the beans and went back home. He thought he
had done a good job.
When Jack’s mother saw the beans, she was very, very angry. She threw the
beans out of the window. The next morning when Jack looked out of the window,
he saw a giant beanstalk. Jack went outside and started to climb the giant beanstalk. It was so big that he climbed up to the sky and though the clouds.
At the top, Jack saw a beautiful castle and he went inside. He heard a voice say,
“Fee-fi-fo-fum, I smell the blood of an Englishman, Be he alive, or be he dead
I'll have his bones to grind my bread.”
Frightened, Jack ran into a cupboard and peeked out the door. An enormous giant came into the room and sat down. On the table there was a hen and a golden
harp. “Lay!” said the giant and so the hen laid an egg – it was made of solid gold.
“Sing!” said the giant and the harp began to sing.
Soon the giant was asleep and Jack jumped out of the cupboard. He snatched
the hen and the harp. Suddenly, the harp sang, “Help, master!” and the giant
woke up, and shouted, “Fee-fi-fo-fum, I smell the blood of an Englishman, Be he
alive, or be he dead I'll have his bones to grind my bread.” Jack ran as fast as he
could and started climbing down the beanstalk, but the giant chased him down.
Jack shouted, “Mother! Help!”. Jack’s mother ran out with an axe and Jack
chopped down the beanstalk. The giant fell and crashed to the ground. Nobody
ever saw him again. Now that they had the golden eggs and magic harp, Jack
and his mother lived happily aver after.
