To receive GKSW via e-mail send your e-mail address to [email protected] Volume V = Issue X = January 30, 2013 Men’s Track & Field Women’s Track & Field Randy Hill Jaclyn Kerner OSHKOSH - Randy Hill set a St. Norbert College indoor record in the triple jump and matched the school standard in the high jump to lead the Green Knights to a third-place finish at the UWOshkosh Invitational. OSHKOSH - St. Norbert College finished in second place among eight teams at the UWOshkosh Invitational at Kolf Sports Center. Hill uncorked a triple jump of 14.06 meters, which topped the previous St. Norbert-high of 14.01 meters set by Paul Leeman in 2007. Hill’s distance was good for second, behind Michigan Tech’s Nate Hood, who had a distance of 14.28 meters. Jaclyn Kerner won the 400-meter run with a time of 1:00.49 and teamed with Kari Braatz, Erin McShea and Calli Nonnemacher in the 4x400-meter relay for her 2nd victory of the day! Men’s Track & Field Sophomore West De Pere, WI. West De Pere H.S. Hill added a third-place finish n the high jump at 1.98 meters, matching a school record held by four others. Hill also finished fourth in the long jump at 6.56 meters. The St. Norbert 4x400-meter relay team of Taylor Pasterski, Jake Schneider, Akeem Edmonds and Stephen Sheperd finished second with a time of 3:28.01. Benny Swift was fourth in the 1,200-meter run with a time of 3:09.88. Nathan Heppe was fifth in the event with a time of 3:10.16. Schneider was fourth in the 400-meter run in 41.86 seconds, Edmonds was sixth in 52.51 seconds and Jack Feuerstein was seventh in 53.04 seconds. Feuerstein added a fifth-place performance in the 60-meter hurdles in 10.08 seconds. Dan Sisler finished fifth in the pole vault at 3.51 meters, and was sixth in the high jump at 1.73 meters. Logan Jadin placed seventh in the 1-mile run with a time of 4:35.39. Michael Heise was seventh in the 3,000-meter run in 9:16.74 seconds, while Pasterski was eighth in the 200-meter dash in 23.35 seconds. Women’s Track & Field Junior Antigo, WI. Antigo H.S. St. Norbert swept the top five spots in the 3,000-meter run. Elvia Martinez was first in 11:23.11, followed by Erika Quinn in second in 11:36.37. Jamie Karrels was third in 11:44.48, followed by Lauren Janes in fourth at 11:48.04 and Kayle Beck in fifth in 12:11.02. The Green Knights also claimed three of the top five spots in the long jump. Kalee Luedtke was first with a leap of 5.00 meters, while Grace Petry was third with a distance of 4.76 meters and Brianna Bittner was fifth with a jump of 4.74 meters. Ashley Bondarowicz won the triple jump with a distance of 10.35 meters. Luedtke was fourth with 9.75 meters and Bittner was sixth with a distance of 9.61 meters. Liz LeCaptain was second in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.06 seconds. Teammates Mara Aparnieks and Angel Hon were seventh and eighth, respectively, with times of 8.38 and 8.52 seconds. Nicole Vanderlin placed second in the high jump with a distance of 1.62 meters. Jenne Wiedemeier was fifth in the pole vault with a height of 2.74 meters, while Allyson Klein (2.59 meters) was seventh and Emily Spone (2.28 meters) was eighth. SNC IN THE WINDY CITY Men’s Track & Field Women’s Track & Field Akeem Edmonds Kate Schabach NAPERVILLE, Ill. - St. Norbert College had a pair of relays earn team points to lead the Green Knights at the North Central College Cardinal Opener. NAPERVILLE, Ill. - St. Norbert College finished seventh out of nine teams at the North Central College Cardinal Opener. Men’s Track & Field Sophomore Chicago, IL. Mooseheart H.S. The Green Knights made the trip down to Naperville to get some experience on the facility where the 2013 Indoor National Championships will be held in March. St. Norbert’s distance medley relay finished third in team scoring with a time of 11:59.19 run by the foursome of Daniel Reigh, Tommy Zakowski, Chris Reinhold and Luke Frommelt. The 4x400-meter relay team of Taylor Pasterski, Akeem Edmonds, Stephen Sheperd and David Yanda finished seven in team scoring with a time of 3:32.91. Women’s Track & Field Junior New Holstein, WI. New Holstein H.S. The Green Knights totaled 24 points, five points behind sixth-place Aurora University’s 29 points. UW-La Crosse won the meet with 185 points, while UW-Oshkosh was second with 135 points. Nicole Vanderlin led the Green Knights with a second-place showing in the high jump, clearing a height of 5 feet 2 1/4 inches. She was one inch short of UWLa Crosse’s Kayla Ashland, who won with a height of 5-3 1/4. Liz LeCaptain placed third in the 60-meter dash with a school-record time of 7.96 seconds. Kalee Luedtke was eighth in the triple jump with a distance of 34 feet 4 3/4 inches. Kate Schabach was eighth in the shot put with a heave of 37-2 1/4. Randy Hill etched his name into the SNC record book on two different occasions this past weekend. Ashley Polomis Senior Ashley Polomis (Kaukauna, WI./G.B. Southwest H.S.) is a threeyear letter-winner on the Green Knight track & field team specializing in the long sprints. Polomis is majoring in Psychology. Randy was actually competing simultaneously in the High Jump and in the Triple Jump when he notched his marks. Hill leaped 6-6 in the high jump to add his name to the record board with four other SNC athletes. He then became the first SNC athlete to break the 46 foot barrier in the triple jump! For his efforts Hill was named the Midwest Conference field athlete of the week. Q: Why did you choose St. Norbert? A: My doctor actually recommended it. A: Hannah Teter Knights @ INDIANA BLOOMINGTON, Indiana - St. Norbert College got top performances from Dan Sisler and Erin McShea while competing at the Gladstein Invitational hosted by the University of Indiana. Sisler, posted a top five time in the Division III heptathlon this year, finishing with a total score of 4333 points. This was the first time that Sisler has competed in a multi-event indoors. Erin McShea had an impressive double over the weekend as she ran an Indoor PR in the 400m dash finishing in 1:01.79. McShea then hopped into a car and drove the rest of the way to Indiana and ran in the open 800m run. Although she took one stride off the side of the banked track, she still finished 3rd in her heat running a 2:20.30. St. Norbert also had solid showings from Benny Swift and Nathan Heppe in the 800 meter run. Swift clocked a time of 1:58.93 while Heppe was close behind in 1:59.36. Rounding out the St. Norbert contingent was Jaclyn Kerner, Calli Nonnemacher, Kari Braatz and Liz LeCaptain in the 4X400m relay.
