To Your
Good Health
(and ours!)
We continue to
encourage students
and staff to wash
hands frequently
and cover all sneezes and coughs
to keep from spreading germs that
cause colds and flu. It’s that time
of year when sickness spreads
throughout many schools, but we
can help keep our kids healthy by
concentrating on good hygiene.
If your child does become sick, you
are encouraged to keep your child
home if they have a fever. We will
send home other health advisories
to help parents know what symptoms
to look for if they suspect the flu.

school germ free,
any donations of
hand sanitizer and
tissues are greatly
appreciated. We would like to make
these available in constant supply to
all classrooms and offices.
The Michigan
Educational
Assessment
Program
(MEAP) was recently administered
to all third through seventh graders
at Jefferson. The MEAP is an opportunity for schools and parents to
evaluate if students are mastering
the State benchmarks. Students and
staff worked hard to assure the best
possible results.
Results will
be available
in late winter
or early spring.

Officer Ed Streng AND
is a familiar face Thursday
around Jefferson November 12
School.
Jefferson students
have made Officer
Streng welcome on the playground
and in the hallways of our school.
He is part of a special program the
re-introduces neighborhood police
officers in the Holland area, and
is assigned to the Jefferson area.
Officer Streng and other community
officers are dedicated to working
closely with residents, human services
agencies, city departments and other
programs to improve the quality of
life and safety in their neighborhoods.
If you see a police car parked by
Jefferson School, chances are it’s
our friendly neighborhood police
officer, Ed Streng!

You may also SCHOOL CROSS WALK
see police patrolling the streets
around our schools. The Holland
Police help keep students safe by
enforcing driving laws all around
school zones. This includes speeding
or illegal parking.
We appreciate the courtesy of our
drivers as they pick up and drop off
students. We continue to encourage
drivers not to ask students to
cross in the middle of the street to
enter cars. Please help us keep all
students safe.
We look forward to meeting with
Jefferson parents to share the
progress of your student.
Grades K-5: Be on the look out for

conferences.
Grades 6 & 7: Information on conferences will be coming home in a

Parents get ready to answer actual
questions from our Jefferson School
classrooms. We’ll be playing for fun
and maybe even prizes. Join us for
a laugh as we learn about our HPS
curriculum in a fun way.
