Whitclubs 2016-2017_Program_Final Draft

Whitman Parents, Faculty, and Students,
The SGA looks forward to a wonderful year filled with great events and memories. The
SGA works very hard to ensure a phenomenal school year for all Whitman students and
members of the Whitman community. We do this by holding events such as Homecoming,
Battle of the Classes, Mr. Whitman, and various other exciting events. Additionally, the
SGA aims to fundraise for a variety of communities in need during the 2016-2017 school
year.
The variety of clubs that can be found at Whitman is incredible, and I really do believe that
there is something out there for every Whitman student to enjoy. Looking back on my past
few years at Whitman, I have come to realize how much of a positive impact these
extracurricular have had on me, including introducing me to now some of my closest
friends. I hope this coming year creates the same environment of mutual support that I
found, where students can find a community of friends not just in their personal activities,
but also in the school as a whole.
Whitman Clubs Night is a fantastic opportunity for students to learn more about the many
ways they can become involved. Students and parents can visit the booths run by each
club and ask questions to each club representative. If you have any further questions,
comments, or suggestions, the SGA can be contacted by email at
[email protected] and I can be contacted directly through my email at
[email protected]. The SGA also has a Facebook page and a Twitter account
which you can subscribe to and keep up to date with the latest news.
It’s going to be a fantastic year. Please, if you have any questions about how to get
involved, or any ideas for improving the experience here at Whitman, don't hesitate to
contact me or the SGA.
Best,
Ari Gutman SGA President

Dear Students, Parents, and Staff,
On behalf of the Walt Whitman PTSA, we would like to invite you to be a part of the
annual Clubs Night.
Throughout the year, many people work ceaselessly to bring the best High School
experience to you through iconic events such as Homecoming, Red Rush 5k, bRave, Mr.
Whitman, Battle of the Classes, and many more. This being said, the one thing that
makes all of the work behind these events worthwhile is the active support and
participation of the student body and beyond. And that starts with you.
At Whitman, we pride ourselves with academic excellence, being one of the top schools in
the nation. In having such a strong reputation, students at Whitman may find themselves
focusing more time on academics than anything else. To be a part of our community and
truly experience the unbelievable opportunities Whitman has to offer, Clubs Night is the
place to begin.
As the homecoming hype swoops in like a superhero, and the football games inspire you
to be a star athlete, Clubs Night will give everyone an inside look into what makes
Whitman one of the best schools in the nation. Whether it be the Robotics Club, Asian
Hop-Hop Club, Entrepreneurs Club, or “Caked,” every club is driven by school spirit and a
love for the community.
Being involved is what shapes you as a person. It’s what gives you character, motivation,
and experience to impact the world that lies ahead of us. Not only this, but you’ll have fun
doing it! And it all starts with you.
At Clubs Night, you will get an opportunity to ask the leaders of these clubs about what
they do throughout the year, as well as how you can be involved. It’s a fantastic
opportunity to meet new people, form new friendships, and be involved!
Whitman Clubs Night is a joint activity of the PTSA and the Student Government Association.
Many people contribute to the success of this evening. Special thanks go to the following people:
Dr. Goodwin and Ms. Cook, for helping with the arrangements; all the teachers, staff and parents
who lend their time to these clubs; Ari Gutman of the Student Government Association; to Sheryl
Freedman, SGA sponsor, and the building staff for their help before and after the event. Finally, of
course, thanks to all the students whose enthusiasm and hard work make these clubs possible!
