November 12th, 9am to 2pm at the Whitehall Elementary School Building Clover College is THE perfect chance for you to meet awesome new people, make cool arts and crafts, learn something new, and see all the possibilities 4-H has to offer! This years Clover College will be held on November 12th at the Whitehall Elementary School There will be no cost for general registration. You can attend from 1-3 sessions (additional fees may apply) during the day and learn about a whole bunch of really awesome (and useful) stuff! The event will last from 9am until 2pm and include three sessions Session One: 9-10:15am Session Two: 10:20am-11:35pm Lunch: 11:35-12:05pm Whole Group Activity 12:05-12:25pm Session Three: 12:30-1:45pm Plan to attend one session or spend the day. Bring along a friend! Community members (non 4-H members) and parents are ABSOLUTELY welcome to attend! Most sessions are open to members, leaders, and parents but may be geared towards different ages based on the subject being taught. Sewing Project (2 sessions long) Instructor: Sue Byom Grades: 3rd grade to 8th grade Class Size 12 Fee:$4.00 We will be painting a picture of Birch trees. You will get the chance to be a true artist by using paint brushes on a canvas to learn to paint birch trees! Bring an old shirt to cover up with. Great for new or returning officers! Big, Bad, Wooly Beads Instructor: Pat Malone Grades: 3rd and up Class Size: 10 Fee: $5.00 Want to learn to make your own beads? Like felt and wool and roving but have no clue what to do with them? Take this class. Pat Malone will teach you how to make a variety of beads with felt and wool roving. Be prepared to get wet and possibly sticky. Leave class with a variety of beads that you can use in a variety of projects. Please bring a bath towel to the workshop. Instructor: Sandy Ravnum Class Size: 10 Fee: $2.00 Grades: Any (See Below) Learn to sew this table decoration and get ready for the holiday season. You will need your sewing machine, a sewing scissor, white thread, and extension cord. To take this class you will need to know how to thread your sewing machine or be accompanied by an adult who knows the machine. All machines are different. Need to have done some basic straight line sewing. Fun project for home or for gifts. Soil and Critters! Instructor: Steve Okonek Grades: 1st and Up Class Size: 10 Fee: None You get the chance to learn all about digging in the soil and then you get to be a scientist and use a real microscope to see all the little critters that are living right under your feet! All About Electronics! Instructor: Amanda Hegge Grades: Any Class Size: 12 Fee: None Come learn about electronics and build your own gadget that lights up, buzzes and spins! We will use something called Little Bits , which are like electronic Legos, to explore electricity and power! 10:20am-11:35am 4-H New Volunteer Orientation Instructor: Adam Trunzo Grades: Any 8 12:30pm-1:45pm Class Size: Any Fee: None This course is required for any new 4-H volunteer and will cover all mandatory trainings and is a great way to learn all about 4-H as an adult! Woodworking Project Same as 10:20-12:25 Session Same as 10:20-12:25 Session Copper Tooling Christmas Ornaments Instructor: Sue Byom Grades: K-5th Class Size: 12 Fee: $2.00 Come learn how to decorate a cupcake from the experts at Sweet Temptations. There will be a demonstration and then hands on decorating! Learn how to make small Copper Tooling Christmas Ornaments! You will learn about Repousse and Chasing (pushing a design in from the front and the back of the metal to create a Low Relief). Then we would use colorful sharpies to add color and tie ribbons on them! Big, Bad, Wooly Beads Big, Bad, Wooly Bangles Instructor: Sweet Temptations! Grade: Any Class size: None Fee: $1.00 Sewing Project Same as 9-10:30 Session Second Half of 9-10:30 Session Drawing class Instructor: Pat Malone Grades: 4th and up Class Size: 10 Fee: $10.00 A drawing lesson focusing on shading. I would set up a Still Life with a light source to create some dramatic lighting and really look at the different values found and recreate them with pencil. A hot jewelry trend is using wool or felted beads to create bracelets, necklaces, or earrings. That's simple enough, but have you thought about altering your wooly beads first? This class will teach you some techniques to add bling to your wool beads and demonstrate some simple beading techniques. Participants will leave with wool beads, at least one decorated bead, and a bracelet or pair of earrings. Introduction to Broadcasting Making Lanyards and Key Chains Instructor: Sue Byom Grades: 3rd grade to 8th grade Class Size 12 Fee:$1.00 Instructor: John Kelly th Grades: 5 grade and up Class Size: 6 Fee: none Learn the basics behind broadcast; operate a studio cameral or try giving a weather forecast. Learn to make lanyards or key chains for name tags or car and house keys. Great gifts for Christmas. Location: Meet in front of elevator on 1st floor of courthouse (youth must get to courthouse). Serious Science! Woodworking Project We have a bunch of hands-on science experiments to try out to learn about all sorts of cool stuff including how things move, what things are made out of, how chemicals react and a whole bunch more! Instructor: John Jones Grade: 1st-5th Class Size :10-20 Fee: $5.00 Learn how to make a useful garden/tool box out of wood. You will be using hammers and nails to make something useful and cool!
