The Minibuses. - Mercedes-Benz

The Minibuses.
Masterpieces.
What should you expect from a
Mercedes‑Benz? More.
There are buses. And there are Mercedes‑Benz Buses and Coaches.
The Star makes the difference in today’s competitive market.
It secures a decisive advantage for you — and the satisfying feeling
of having made the best choice for the future of your company.
At the forefront of innovation. Mercedes‑Benz has assumed a responsibility for bus and coach
design that outstrips all other manufacturers. Not only because Carl Benz constructed the world’s
first omnibus in 1895, but also because Mercedes-Benz has continually developed it into a highperformance, safe and environmentally friendly mode of transport. This is why Mercedes‑Benz Buses
and Coaches offers practical and advanced solutions to meet the challenges of tomorrow — ensuring
that you can always remain one step ahead of the competition.

Minibuses with
maximum options.
Versatility is the trump card for Mercedes-Benz Sprinter minibuses.
24 models in four series, four diesel engines, two manual and two
automatic transmissions, rear wheel and all-wheel drive, more
weight and rear axle variants – all told, these multiply into several
hundred options. You have the choice.

5
Sprinter highlights.
It has given a name to an entire class of vehicle – the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. A vehicle that has been an innovation
leader since its introduction. Meet the current Sprinter minibus family from Mercedes-Benz, with the latest BlueTec® engines,
incredibly low consumption levels, comprehensive safety systems and visual appeal.
The right size. Mercedes-Benz minibuses based on the Sprinter have long since taken
a lead in Europe – and for a very good reason. As minibuses, they are perfectly at home
when it comes to transporting manageable numbers of passengers, because they still prove
profitable where a large bus no longer makes economic sense. This not only avoids travelling
empty, but also the effortless exploitation of new application areas. And this is achieved
with greater efficiency and profitability than ever before.
BlueTec – outstanding technology. The BlueTec engines are an impressive economic
and environmental solution: Thanks to the latest SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction)
technology, the Sprinter meets the Euro VI standard. This procedure significantly reduces
NOx emissions by passing exhaust gases through a catalytic converter so that the waterbased additive AdBlue can help to convert the nitrous oxide into nitrogen and water. This
saves the environment and helps to make the vehicle more economical.

Legendary economy in consumption. As one of the most sustainable vehicles in its class,
the new Sprinter achieves outstandingly low emission and consumption levels through
numerous efficiency measures. In conjunction with the optional BlueEFFICIENCY package,
the economical Sprinters are even more restrained when it comes to expending fuel, with
consumption dropping by up to 0.5 l/100 km and thus equalling that of a car.
The dynamic mover. Its name says it all: the Sprinter stands for extraordinarily dynamic
handling in its vehicle class. The performance of the engines is unchanged, with powerful
four and six cylinder diesel engines delivering 70 kW (95 bhp) to 140 kW (190 bhp). Comfortable
in all gears: in addition to a six-speed manual transmission, a 7-speed automatic transmission
is also available.
7
New standard in safety. With its comprehensive safety
technology, the Sprinter has long been considered one of
the safest vehicles of its class. In addition to an impeccable
running gear, precision steering and the highly effective
brake system, the electronic guardian angels, features which
have achieved legendary status, also contribute to this out
standing safety record. Most notable here are the standard
ADAPTIVE ESP® and standard brake assist system. And the
designers have added a further five new assistance systems
to the new Sprinter. This is why the lane departure warning
system, adaptive cruise control and the blind spot assist
system make their international premiere in the Sprinter
class. Also new are the high-beam and side-wind assist
systems. These are available relative to the model and
vehicle configuration. For a level of safety with which
Mercedes-Benz once again comes a decisive step closer
to achieving the vision of accident-free driving.
8
Applause for a new exterior. Powerful, distinctive, dynamic:
with its completely new front, the Sprinter attracts every
glance. In the plastic-designed, steeper radiator grille, the
centrally positioned Star is now decorated by three slats with
chrome trim (optional extra). In addition to the dipped beam,
indicator and cornering light, the more sharply designed,
strikingly segmented headlamps also encompass a daytime
driving light which can be selectively designed as an LED
lighting strip. Bi-xenon light and separately positioned fog
lamps are optionally available and round off the front lighting
features. The rear is also distinguished by a new light design.
With two rear lamps in each lamp cluster, the new Sprinter
also presents more profile in the dark.
Top marks for the new interior. The Sprinter is not only
better looking on the outside – the interior is now also
considerably more attractive. The flush ceiling design with
LED lighting strips and new Tunja black seat covers enhance
its appearance greatly. And the cockpit also impresses with
a new degree of comfort. The steering wheel and shift knob
are noticeably more tactile and, thanks to the new display,
the driver can view all important information at all times
at a glance. In the entertainment area, the new Sprinter
offers two new audio devices with an SD and USB inter
face, Bluetooth and a large display. And the Becker MAP
PILOT navigation system has been installed in the Sprinter.
With innumerable designs, materials and colours, the
Mercedes-Benz collection ensures that every wish is catered
for when designing the passenger compartment.
9
The versatile mover.
When it comes to efficiency, not many vehicles can compete with the new Sprinter – and the same applies to
environmental friendliness. Equipped with a new engine generation, the minibus family takes to the road with a
complete range of engines conforming to the Euro VI emissions standard.
True pioneer work. With the latest generation of BlueTec®
engines, Mercedes-Benz has written a new chapter as a
pioneer of technology for this vehicle class. Developed
specifically for Europe, tested under the severest conditions
from the Polar Circle to South Africa and having already
proven its worth in Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicles,
buses and coaches on journeys totalling many billions of
kilometres, the innovative drive technology is now also the
standard in the Sprinter family. Efficient, future-oriented
BlueTec® engines can ensure a drastic reduction in nitrogen
oxides and particles in exhaust gas, and have demonstrated
this over around eight million test kilometres.
10
E State-of-the-art technology. The new Euro VI exhaust
emission standard requires a further drastic lowering of
emissions. A complex exhaust gas treatment system is
required for engines to meet these specifications. The
central element is the innovative SCR (selective catalytic
reduction) exhaust cleaning technology, in which harmful
nitrogen oxide is converted into the harmless environmental
components of water and nitrogen in a chemical catalytic
reaction through the addition of AdBlue. The result: 66 %
fewer particles and 80 % less nitrogen oxide when compared
to Euro V. The particular advantage: in addition to emissions,
consumption is also reduced considerably.
Enhanced efficiency. Mercedes-Benz has exploited additional
exhaust gas treatment to optimise fuel and AdBlue consumption.
Auxiliary units, the transmission and the rear axle have also
been rigorously trimmed for efficiency. The BlueEFFICIENCY
package ensures even greater economy. The generator
management, fuel pump and tyre rolling resistance were all
optimised in this respect, while an ECO power steering pump
and ECO start/stop function were integrated. The result is
impressive. With their exceptionally low fuel consumption
values, the economical Sprinters have now achieved the level
of a car. In addition there are the new, considerably lengthened
oil change intervals for diesel vehicles of up to 60,000 km or
every two years at the latest and extended servicing intervals
governed by usage of up to 120,000 km which the standard
ASSYST service computer calculates according to the load
involved, indicating the remaining service life of maintenance
components.
11
Sprinter Travel.
Whether for brief trips, long-distance journeys or VIP tours – the Sprinter Travel provides a lot of pleasure
for small groups. The travel expert among minibuses is now even more attractive, more comfortable and, most
importantly, more economical than ever.
The budget expert. The Sprinter Travel has long been one
of the major players when it comes to economy. Equipped
with future-oriented Euro VI technology, the budget specialist
is now even better value. And, particularly for use as a touring
bus on intensive routes, its reduced consumption and longer
servicing intervals pay off for you – kilometre after kilometre.
Three model variants and a broad range of fittings make it
easy for you to configure a touring minibus to suit your
individual requirements. A vehicle which still allows you to
operate profitably where a large bus no longer makes
economic sense.
12
A real feast for the eyes. No wonder it makes heads turn:
the new Sprinter Travel draws the attention of everyone to it
with its unique design and the new, distinctive front. However,
its exclusive style is also evident on boarding the vehicle.
The passenger compartment appears even more attractive
and spacious, thanks to the newly designed ceiling with
integrated LED lighting strips. The new roof hatches and
windows, the ventilation grilles for the air-conditioning
system and the roof ventilators are integrated in a flush
arrangement. The modern design of the convection heating
adds the perfect touch to the overall harmonious impression.
A particularly shapely seat foot design in the Sprinter Travel
45 and 55 also contributes to the aura of a larger bus. In the
case of the top model, the Sprinter Travel 65, the soft foamed
and embossed partition in front of the first row contributes
to the atmosphere of a high-end touring coach.
The journey is the goal. In a Sprinter Travel, you not only
sit comfortably – you also arrive rested and relaxed. This is
ensured by features including the excellent running gear, the
cosy passenger compartment and the standard driver and
passenger air-conditioning system. The interior and driver’s
station were also further optimised. New luggage racks, service
sets with reading lamps and individually adjustable ventilation
nozzles have been added to the comfortable coach seats with
adjustable backrests. The range now includes a particularly
powerful roof-mounted air conditioner for tropically hot
summer days. And the driver’s station has also increased in
attractiveness. The ergonomic design is noticeably optimised
by the new steering wheel and gear shift, while the new assist
systems provide support for safe driving.

Sprinter Transfer.
Whether for interurban, school bus service or excursions – the Sprinter Transfer stands for
practically unlimited versatility, thanks to numerous variants. The flexible all-rounder now opens
up even more possibilities and options for you.
A joy to drive. Are you looking for a minibus for a football
team or for an entire school class? No problem. Five model
variants of the Sprinter Transfer are available for 13 to 22
passengers and a choice of numerous fittings and seating
options. Regardless of the Sprinter Transfer you choose –
you are certain to open up a wealth of new options for a
whole range of applications. But one thing is certain: the
flexible all-rounder will soon become an indispensable part
of your fleet.
16
Completely inviting. Anybody who takes a seat on the new
Sprinter Transfer immediately feels comfortable. This is not
solely because of the comfortable interurban seats which,
thanks to a new seat foot and upholstery fabric, are even
more welcoming, or the new luggage racks which can
adequately accommodate even large hand luggage items.
The spacious, pleasantly high interior with its flush ceiling
design is also more attractive. The roof hatch, roof ventilator,
ventilation grilles and new LED lighting strips have been
harmoniously integrated, creating a pleasant atmosphere.
And, to allow you to enhance this atmosphere even more
and adapted exactly to suit your requirements, the powerful
roof-mounted air conditioner is now available in four different
capacities. Your passengers will feel totally comfortable
in every respect, regardless of the weather or the length
of the journey.
The economical solutions. The Sprinter Transfer has been
winning all the arguments hands down for a long time. Not
only because you can exploit its flexibility for numerous tasks,
but also because it does not burden your financial resources.
As well as meeting the latest Euro VI standard, the low
consumption of the high-performance BlueTec® engines
also saves money on every trip. Equipped with innovative
BlueEFFICIENCY technology, it is also easy to enjoy further
consumption benefits.

Sprinter City.
For public transport in narrow inner cities or on routes with a predictable number of passengers –
the Sprinter City is always the ideal solution. The slender specialist has now been adapted to suit
the requirements of urban driving even better.
Increase your radius of action. With a Sprinter City you
can conveniently open up new service application areas for
your company. As minibuses, they are in their element when
transporting predictable numbers of passengers, because
they are still profitable to run when a big bus has long ceased
to pay for itself. There are three model variants for up to 22,
30 or 40 passengers to choose from. Whether for public
transport or a works bus service, whether as a school bus,
night bus or on-call bus – owing to its versatility, a Sprinter
City will soon become an essential part of your fleet too.
20
A perfect working area. In many ways, the driver area in the
Sprinter City is similar to that of a car. And this, of course,
also applies to comfort. From the perfect ergonomics of the
swivel seat and practical details such as electric window
lifters and heated and electrically adjustable exterior mirrors
to separate driver air conditioning. For a relaxed and stressfree driving experience in the city, try the standard 7-speed
automatic transmission.
Compact dimensions, greater comfort. The Sprinter City
need not shy away from the comparison with a larger bus.
As a “close relative” of the Citaro bus family, it encompasses
a wealth of features that make it equal to the large city bus.
For example, the handrails and seats are derived from the
Citaro. Its wide outward swinging doors and a standing height
of 2.20 m in the low-floor section mean it is exceptionally
roomy and welcoming. In addition, you can now choose from
three different roof-mounted air conditioners, thus facilitating
individual adaptation for a pleasant, comfortable atmosphere,
even on extremely hot days. Regardless of the model you
select – your passengers will love the new Sprinter City.

Sprinter Mobility.
A special school bus in the morning, a community service bus in the afternoon, and a shared taxi
in the evening – the Sprinter Mobility stands for maximum flexibility. The all-rounder can now adapt even
quicker and in a more individual manner to the most varied applications.
The quick-change artist. You’ve just driven a group of
wheelchair users to a sports event, and now you’ll need the
full seating capacity of your Sprinter Mobility to dispatch it
as a shared taxi. No problem. The ability to adapt the
passenger compartment quickly is one of its strengths.
The basis of this capability is its airline floor rail system
that facilitates the flexible layout of seating and wheelchair
retaining systems. And, as the passenger seats in the new
Sprinter Mobility are mounted on quick-change feet, this can
be achieved without tools and in no time at all through
simple offsetting or removal of seats.
24
Play it safe. Numerous details make the Sprinter Mobility a
particularly safe example of its class and the first choice of
many, especially for conveying disabled people. Important
features include the sturdy passenger cell, standard 3-point
seat belts or, of course, the many electronic guardian angels.
Most notable here is ADAPTIVE ESP® which increases vehicle
stability during abrupt evasive manoeuvres. You can now
avail of five new assist systems which allow you to enhance
the exemplary safety of your Sprinter even further. The sidewind assist system is even a standard feature in the Sprinter
Mobility 23 and 33 models. It compensates almost completely
for gusts of wind and is activated automatically at a speed of
80 km/h and greater. The high-beam assist system can be
fitted as a single unit or in a package with lane departure
warning, blind spot and collision warning assist systems.
For that comforting feeling of being optimally supported and
perfectly safe at all times.
Nomen est omen – it’s all in the name. The Sprinter Mobility
is now even more passenger-friendly. Its equipment package
designed for disabled persons now encompasses an electri
cally extendable step on the side passenger door and an
access aid for wheelchairs at the rear as standard features.
A linear lift takes care of this task in the Sprinter Mobility 23
and 33, being installed as an underfloor lift in the Sprinter
Mobility 35 and 45. On opening the rear doors, these align
themselves parallel with the sidewall, a magnetic buffer fixes
them securely to the exterior sheet metal and a friendly light
above the doorway welcomes the passengers on board. It
only remains to say that, as it is now available in a total of
four variants, the Sprinter Mobility is now ready to greet even
more passengers.

Important for you. Important for us. Technical Data Stored in the Vehicle.
Electronic vehicle components (e.g. Airbag Control Unit, Engine Control Unit) contain data storage for vehicle Technical Data, including but not limited to Diagnostic
Trouble Codes in the event of a malfunction, vehicle speed, braking force, or operating conditions of the Restraint System and Driver Assistance Systems in case
of an accident (no audio and no video data recording). This data is either stored volatile, punctual as snapshot e.g. Diagnostic Trouble Codes, over a short period of
time (a few seconds only) e.g. in case of an accident or in aggregated form e.g. for component load evaluation. The data can be read using interfaces connected to
the vehicle. Trained technicians can process and utilize the data to diagnose and repair possible malfunctions. The manufacturer can use the data to analyze and
improve vehicle functions. When requested by the customer, Technical Data can form the basis of additional optional services. In general, data from the vehicle is
transferred to the manufacturer or a third party only according to legal allowance, or based on a contractual customer consent in accordance with data protection
laws. Further information regarding storage of vehicle Technical Data is provided in the vehicle Owner’s Manual.
Mercedes-Benz Buses and Coaches naturally handles customer data confidentially.
