Foster Farms has made improvements that have reduced Salmonella levels to less than 5 percent which
is 5 times better than the USDA-measured industry average of 25 percent.
However, experts agree that even with very low levels of incidence, the poultry industry cannot
completely eliminate the prevalence of Salmonella. That is why food safety has to be a collaborative effort
between food producers, government and consumers. All raw chicken must be properly handled to avoid
cross contamination and fully cooked to 165 degrees Fahrenheit to ensure safety.
We have worked hard for 75 years to earn consumer trust, and we stand committed to doing our part to
enhance the safety of our nation’s food supply. The company now leads the industry in reducing
incidence levels of Salmonella. Foster Farms is actively sharing its learnings with other producers in the
food industry for the benefit of consumers nationwide.
Sincerely,
Ron Foster
