The new Speed Queen front load washer features a dynamic system that drives
premium out of balance performance even on second floor applications.
Advantage- Reduced Floor Force and Vibration
Floor force is amount of pressure that a frontload washer transfers to the foundation
(floor) on which it is installed. Floor force is created by the centrifugal force of the
washer cylinder in the spin segment of the washer cycle. Floor force increases when the
cylinder is out of balance, placing more force on the foundation. Higher floor forces
increase vibration. Increased vibration deteriorates the machine and creates high noise
levels in your home.
Without getting too deeply into the laws of physics, let’s say you have a 100 pound bag
of sand. You drop that bag on the floor from a height of one inch. There is probably no
vibration transferred to the rest of the room. Take that same bag and drop it from a
height of six feet. The floor force is considerably greater due to physics and you may
notice a shaking throughout the room. The same is true if a 200 pound man gently
walks onto the floor or if he jumps up and down on that same section of the floor.
The new dynamic balance system on Speed Queen frontload washers is designed
specifically to offset out of balance loads, greatly reducing floor force. There are two
balance rings mounted to the front and rear of the washer cylinder. Each ring is filled
with ball bearings suspended in a “non-Newtonian” solution. With an OOB load, the ball
bearings will move opposite to balance out the load when going into spin (using physics
and laws of nature). Additionally the machine is built on a solid steel base with heavy
duty shock absorbers to absorb much of the force before it reaches the foundation.

Example
The Speed Queen front load washer is rated at an 8.9lb floor force. Based on testing the
nearest competitor is more than double that rating and several are three times that
number. Picture continually dropping a 9lb bowling ball (SQ) on the floor compared to
a 20 or 30 lb bowling ball (competitor) on the same foundation. The heavier ball will
generate significantly more floor force, vibration, and sound. This visual represents the
difference in performance between the Speed Queen front load washer and our
competitors.
Absorbing vibration better means less stress on the machine and shorter cycle time and
ultimately more time at a higher spin speed for better water extraction and less time
needed in the dryer – that saves you money and leads to a longer product life. This is
