Important December Dates
Dear Memorial Families,
Thank you so much for attending our Parent/Teacher
Conferences last month as we know the critical importance
that a positive home and school connection plays in the
success of a child’s education. We had 88% attendance from
our families! As the new principal, I thoroughly enjoyed visiting
with many of you in the hallways as you patiently waited for
your child’s teacher. Thank you for caring and being in
partnership with us!
Best always,
Jennifer Sheldon, Principal
Drop Off and Pick Up
Please work with us to keep all our students safe by following the
traffic signage and the flow for drop off in the mornings. With
winter weather coming any day, PLEASE do not let your child off
before school starts in the bus zone, before 8:15 if they are having
breakfast OR no earlier than 8:30 if they are waiting in line or let
your child off in the street. This could result in a serious accident.
Thank you again for cooperating in the name of safety for ALL of
our students.

PLEASE help your little one dress for the winter weather with
winter coats, hats, gloves scarves and boots. Please pack
gym shoes on gym days or another pair of comfortable shoes
for your child to change into after entering the building.

More Important News
The PTA is sponsoring a spare change collection
to help the local Goodfellows provide a special
holiday for our Garden City families in need.
Each classroom has a container to collect the
change (and paper money, too) and the class
that collects the MOST will enjoy a pizza party.

Always Learning
Dec. 12 and the AM of Dec. 13, Dr. Connie Hebert will be
visiting our building and conducting demonstration literacy
lessons for our teachers. It is important to be a continual
learner and our teachers are always working to stay current
and innovative with best practice strategies to help all our
students succeed to the best of their ability. Each class will
have a guest teacher for just one hour during these adult
learning days.

December is the Month for Random Acts of Kindness
DO-cember is the month to do a Random Act of Kindness. Say hi
to stranger, open the door for someone rushing in the shopping
frenzy, send a quick note to someone just to say HI, or let someone
in who works in a hospital, in a school, as a firefighter or police
officer, etc… know that you appreciate the work they do in the
community.
Just a thought…
During this holiday season of
giving… Stop for just a
moment and think about the
incredible value of TIME!
With our lives so very busy
every day, it is nice to just
have time to spend together.
Not expensive gifts, not travel
that costs a fortune but just
curled up on the sofa sharing
a funny book, playing board
games like Pie in the Face or
Twister which will bring the
joyous sound of laughter all
through your home…
A famous country singer,
Kenny Chesney sings a song
entitled, “Don’t Blink”. This
time with your incredible
young children will go by so
fast if you don’t STOP and
live in this moment with
them…
May each of you enjoy this
holiday in your custom, in
your religion and with the
people that mean to very
most to you…
Happy New Year!
