LightStanza LS

OUR MISSION
Although natural sunlight regulates the way we eat, sleep, work, and play,
in design, daylighting is often overlooked or under-utilized. LightStanza’s
mission is to transform the way architects, consultants, and manufacturers collaborate on green buildings by developing tools to help them visualize, analyze, and use daylight in their projects.
WHY LIGHTSTANZA?
Based in Boulder, CO, LightStanza
is the first Radiance-backed Web
Application focused on daylighting. Quickly generate whole building and space-by-space analysis
on your projects with this tool.
Take advantage of consistent
product representation through
rigorous analysis that accurately
models advanced daylighting
products like automated blinds,
electrochromic glazing, and other
complex fenestration.

Features for Manufacturers
LightStanza is used by manufacturers of advanced daylighting
products who look to implement
their merchandise into the application’s material library. Product
visibility is increased as architects,
consultants in lighting and sustainability, and educators in the
fields of Architecture and Interior
Design at multiple universities use
the tool as well. In its span over
many different user types, this is
a very collaborative tool!
Immediately compare, iterate, and
refine designs to find an optimal
strategy. Visualize design options
side-by-side through animations,
renderings, and numerical data
to understand effectiveness of
different daylighting products or
strategies.
Quickly generate six of the most
rigorous and relevant daylighting
metrics, including ASE, sDA, cDA,
DA, UDI, and Average Illuminance.
Take human factors into account
with the only cloud-based tool
that can accurately calculate sDA
by simulating dynamic blinds operations based on direct sunlight,
climate data, and solar angle.
Get one-click access to spaceby-space, zoomable scores and
illuminance levels. By generating
LEED scorecards in LightStanza,
check compliance and download
reports to submit for the LEED
daylight credit.

Key Times
Camera Tools
Along with scores based on industry and LEED standards, explore Key Times simulations. Get
a broad idea of how daylight will
work in a space with these images. View life-like representations
of your model at specific times
throughout the year in order to
visualize lighting concepts at the
“scenes” of your choice. You can
also view illuminance grids, which
show a graphical representation
of daylight in a space. Get a good
sense of where problem areas will
be based on grid point colors, like
in the illuminance grid to the left.
While renderings are great for getting experiential and qualitative
data, they can also offer quantitative data with camera tools like
false color, glare, and exposure
analysis. Easily pinpoint areas
that are too bright, too dark, or just
right at specific time points with
false color and glare overlays.
Then change the f-stop of renderings to compensate for over- or
underlit spaces with the exposure
tool.
