One short stay application form legibly and fully completed, dated and signed by the
applicant plus two colour passport size photographs showing the full face, forehead,
hairline and ears on a white background. All applicants should mention their personal
mobile and/or landline telephone numbers on the visa application form. If the file is
presented by a travel agent, it should also state the telephone number of the relevant
agent

Original passport, issued less than ten years ago and valid for at least three months
after the intended return date to India from the Schengen zone. It must have a minimum
of two blank pages (face to face). A photocopy of the front and back pages with
applicant's address must be submitted. If applicable, copies of observation pages, plus
copies of valid and expired visas for all Schengen countries, the United Kingdom and
the United States of America, must also be shown.

Original covering letter, signed and dated by the applicant, explaining the
purpose of his/her trip to France a nd other Schengen countries if applicable

A certified copy of the French m arriage certificate (less than 3 months old) issued
either by a French "Mairie" or by a French Consulate, or the "Livret de fam ille"

Valid French identification Card (Carte Nationale d ’Identité) or a certificate of
French nationality (certificat de nationalité française) or "décret de naturalisation" or
"décret de réintégration dans la nationalité française" or proof that the French spouse
is registred at a French Con sulate or a copy of a French biometric passport.

IMPORTANT
The French Consulate General in Kolkata accepts visa files from applicants residing in India and
Bhutan (Residents of Bhutan have to apply in Kolkata and nowhere else).
- Applications not presented at least two weeks before the departure date m ay not be
processed on time
- You may not apply more than 90 days in advance
- Although the list of docum ents to be presented is the same as below, a Schengen visa
does not authorise you to enter a French overseas departm ent or territory
(DOM/TOM) and vice -versa
