Scavenger Hunt Self LED - North Ayrshire Council

Scavenger Hunt
Aim:
This is a lovely activity for all ages, abilities and group sizes and will liven up
any walk out of doors, as well as being a great addition to other activities. It
encourages people to take a closer look at natural environment and helps in
the development of identification and observational skills
Time:
Short 10 minute hunts to 1½ hour hunts can be made.
Equipment: A scavenger hunt list of items that can be found within the designated hunt
area, a small bag or container to collect the items.
Instructions: Larger groups can be split into smaller teams of four or five and allocated a
leader. Each group or individual can be given a scavenger list and allocated
a set time in which to locate the items. All members should be encouraged
to collect the items without damaging the environment and where possible all
should be collected from the woodland floor.
More Ideas: This is a very adaptable activity and lists of items can be constructed to suit
the age, ability and weather conditions, with items relevant to the area being
explored.
Items can be included that require a little more imagination such as – as big
smile!
The winner could be the group with the most items or back within the time
with all items.
