Hope Raina B. Rich (7-1) Hope is greater than depression. Hope is greater than hurt and exclusion. Hope is greater than abuse. Hope is greater than many unfortunate, negative things. Hope Week is one of my favorite events at Wredling. I love that it’s all about helping and supporting people. This event makes me feel like everyone has so much power. It makes me feel that we can beat anything that stands in our way. We are one, strong community that has the drive and determination to conquer anything. Hope Week is a week long, hence the name. Each day, there is a different event or activity to support Hope. The first day, there were announcements throughout the day showing different students’ “30 Seconds of Hope”. The second day, students from St. Charles East High School came in and talked to the lunch hours about the Hope Hustle. The Hope Hustle is a fundraiser event held at East High School. If decide to participate, you pay a certain amount of money and then you get to take part in an event of your choice. The rest of the week, Suicide Prevention ribbons were distributed to the students, Hope tee shirts were sold, some students were selected to put their handprints on the wall in the lunchroom hallway, and coping-strategy bingo was played! I strongly support all Hope-related events and I encourage that you should as well! Hope is a wonderful act of positivity and even when times are tough, I motivate you all to stay strong and have hope! Hope Quotes These quotes were read by 8th grade students over the PA system at various times during the day during HOPE week. The goal was to share these words of hope with the entire school. “You may not always have a comfortable life. You will not always be able to solve all of the world’s problems at once, but don’t ever underestimate the importance you can have because history has shown us that courage can be contagious and hope can take on a life of its own!” - Michelle Obama “Hope is not a dream, but a way of making dreams become reality!” - James Womack “Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow, The important thing is not stop questioning!” - Albert Einstein “Hope is what gets us out of bed in the morning. Hope is what gets us through the bad times. Hope is inside all of us!” - Brian Bartodziej “Everything that is done is the world is done by hope!” - Martin Luther King “Hope lies in dreams, in imagination, and in the courage those who dare to make dreams into reality!” - Jonas Salk “Hope is the little voice that whispers ‘maybe” when it seems that the entire world is shouting no!” - unknown “Hope is the thing that calls you pretty, others may think it’s quite silly. Beauty is just a state of mind, hope and beauty come over time. The misconception of beauty is silly. I don’t need the world to tell me I’m pretty!” - Jada Crawford “Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness.” - Diamond Tutu “Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all.” – Dale Carnegie “All kids need is a little help, a little hope and somebody who believes in them.” - Magic Johnson “Never let go of hope! One day you will see that it all has finally come together. What you have always wished for has finally come to be. You will look back and laugh at what has passed and you will ask yourself, How did I get through all of that?” - Suki HOPE HUSTLE On Saturday, March 21st join the fun and be part of St. Charles East High School's Hope Hustle.
