Home Work Help:
 We are focusing on drawing skills and using our knowledge of 2D Shapes (square, rectangle,
triangle, circle). I have taken pictures of houses, trees, cars and us; to show how you can use
shapes to make these items. Try it home too!
 When reading point out upper and lowercase letters see if they can make the sound. Start pointing
out simple sight words : I, A , the , is, it ,in
 Most children are able to sort but find it challenging when asked to declare their sorting rule. We
have spent a lot of time developing the vocabulary same and different. You can continue this at
home. When sorting laundry have your child help, have them verbalize how they sorted the
clothes (size, colour, type of clothing). Also when you are in a parking lot talk with your child
about what makes the vehicles’ the same (car, truck, colour) and different (colour, car, truck).
Challenge them to find different ways to sort objects at home, making sure you have them declare
a sorting rule.
Homework Help
Our next focus is making sure students enter Grade 1 knowing their alphabet
and corresponding sounds. With our morning/afternoon message and weekly
letter focus; we have noticed much improvement from our students. Review
and practice at home will help make sure that this skill is mastered for the
beginning of next year.
Parent Volunteers
Thank you to all the parents who have volunteered in our classroom this
month preparing classroom materials, helping decorate bulletin boards and
working with children. Your time is greatly appreciated.
Demonstration of Learning
Thanks to all the parents who participated in the Demonstration of Learning.
This was a great opportunity for you to see what your child has been learning
while providing feedback and encouragement. Your support of your child’s
learning is so beneficial and appreciated.
Warm Weather
Please remember to send your child with appropriate wear, considering all
conditions. Children have been using their extra clothes, so please make
