EFI SYSTEMS
To improve fuel efficiency and to lower pollution levels, modern cars
are fitted with electronic fuel injection (EFI) in place of a carburettor.
Although complex in design, the basic principles of EFI are relatively
simple, and usually offers years of trouble free motoring. This is provided regular maintenance procedures are observed.

or tarnish clogging the injector’s pintle valve. This valve controls both
the volume and spray pattern of atomised fuel into the engine.
Even the smallest particles lodged in this valve can cause erratic running and poor performance.
Regular maintenance procedures. The primary guard against contamination is the fuel filter. We strongly recommend filter replacement on
due date or manufactures specifications. The use of in-tank chemical
additives may also assist in reducing deposits.

George’s Banana Cake
1+1/2 cups plain flour
Icing
3 teaspoons baking powder
250g cream cheese (chunks, room temp)
3/4 teaspoon salt
125gms unsalted butter (chunks, room temp)
1/2 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
500gms icing sugar mixture, sifted
2-3 large ripe bananas mashed
1+1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1+2/3 cup caster sugar
Roasted pecans to serve
2 eggs
125 unsalted butter cut into small chunks (room temp)
100ml buttermilk
1+1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Preheat oven to 180C. Butter and flour a deep 26cm ring tin
Put flour, baking powder, salt and bicarb of soda into a food processor and whiz together for about 15 sec, then tip into
a bowl
Mash bananas and measure out 1 cup banana pulp. Scrape this into the food processor and puree it until smooth. Add
sugar and eggs and whiz together for 1 min. Add butter and whiz for approx 1 minute until mixture is thick and creamy.
Add butter milk and vanilla extract and pulse the processor in quick on/off bursts, scraping down the sides once or twice
with a rubber spatula, until just combined (don’t over do it or cake will be tough). Scoop the batter into prepared tin and
smooth out evenly.
Bake for 30-40 min, don’t open the oven door before this or the cake may sink in middle. Cool cake in tin for 7 minutes
then gently turn out on rack to cool.
Icing
Place softened butter, cream cheese, icing sugar and vanilla extract in bowl and blend until smooth. When
cake is cool smooth icing over top of cake and decorate with pecan nuts if desired. Keep in refrigerator.

tar marks, leave for a couple of hours, then wipe off a damp cloth. Repeat
if necessary.
BALL-POINT PEN STAINS - To remove, mix equal parts of fresh
calcium and fuller's earth
(available at most chemists), then add a few drops of mentholated spirits.
Make into a thick paste, apply and wait to dry.
Remove with a damp cloth and dry thoroughly. Repeat the procedure if
the stain persists.
