At this years Military Ball, cadets
were recognized for their outstanding work in community
service and leadership in front of
their peers, parents and notable
community members.
During the Military Ball, there
were several cadet led performances. The Color Guard, Flag
Folding and Saber Teams all did
an excellent job performing for
the Corp. In addition, the Honor
Guard seated guests.
Several national awards were’’
awarded to cadets who showed
exemplary values and excelled
not only within the Corps but in
the community. Guests enjoyed
a three course meal and had the
opportunity to learn about
JROTC first hand.
Towards the end of the event,
graduating cadets were honored by walking under a row of
sabers and their future plans
were shared.
Behind the scenes, Cadre members and the AS-4s had been
planning the night for months.
Everything from the venue, to
the ticket sales and even the
Cadre members salute Col.
Fernandez at the Military Ball
catering had to be organized and
executed with perfection.
Overall, If you or your family have
not yet attended, I highly recommend going as it is a great experience that you will not forget..

New Semester, New Staff Positions
At the beginning of each semester cadets have opportunity to
apply for positions within the
Cadet Corps. Positions are a key
part of AFJROTC, as cadets run
the majority of the Corps day to
day operations from leading drill
practices to running after school
programs and even the publishing
of this newsletter.
This semester we welcome many
AS-1 to their first opportunity to
hold a position. Often cadets are
first put into Non-Commissioned
Officers positions to gain valuable skills. As NCOs, cadets often
assist leaders in completing tasks
and managing logistics.
In addition, AS-3 were awarded
Squadron positions to prepare
cadets to fill in the shoes of the
outgoing seniors in Cadre positions.
We would like to congratulate
and give all cadets our best
wishes in their new positions.

Seniors Visit William Jessup College
Potential ROTC cadets had the
opportunity to get a glimpse of
what college life is like at William
Jessup University - a Christcentered fully accredited college.
They were welcomed to the college by Lieutenant Colonel Ng who
is the Air Force ROTC commander
at William Jessup; he shared many
interesting aspects of the program
that is affiliated with Sac State. Cadets started the tour with a visit to
the chapel where students come to
strengthen their relationship with
God and each other. Throughout
the tour, they were shown the
many areas where students have
the chance to study and keep academically productive. The dorms
are spacious and are at many times,
a place of community and fellowship. Near the end of our tour,
they were given the chance to talk
to one of the ROTC students who
explained how daily life in collegelevel ROTC has a different mission.
JROTC’s mission is to develop
citizens of character dedicated to
serving their nation and community
while the AFROTC’s mission is to
develop quality leaders for the Air
Force. As a conclusion to our tour,
we had the chance to eat a “fourstar meal” with Lieutenant Colonel
Ng accompanied us.
Great field-trip!

and helped
become a better
person”
