Bilyeu @ [email protected] New Semester, New Staff Positions At the beginning of each semester cadets have opportunity to apply for positions within the Cadet Corps. Positions are a key part of AFJROTC, as cadets run the majority of the Corps day to day operations from leading drill practices to running after school programs and even the publishing of this newsletter. This semester we welcome many AS-1 to their first opportunity to hold a position. Often cadets are first put into Non-Commissioned Officers positions to gain valuable skills. As NCOs, cadets often assist leaders in completing tasks and managing logistics. In addition, AS-3 were awarded Squadron positions to prepare cadets to fill in the shoes of the outgoing seniors in Cadre positions. We would like to congratulate and give all cadets our best wishes in their new positions. NEWSLETTER VOLUME XXII, ISSUE 1 PAGE Seniors Visit William Jessup College Potential ROTC cadets had the opportunity to get a glimpse of what college life is like at William Jessup University - a Christcentered fully accredited college. They were welcomed to the college by Lieutenant Colonel Ng who is the Air Force ROTC commander at William Jessup; he shared many interesting aspects of the program that is affiliated with Sac State. Cadets started the tour with a visit to the chapel where students come to strengthen their relationship with God and each other. Throughout the tour, they were shown the many areas where students have the chance to study and keep academically productive. The dorms are spacious and are at many times, a place of community and fellowship. Near the end of our tour, they were given the chance to talk to one of the ROTC students who explained how daily life in collegelevel ROTC has a different mission. JROTC’s mission is to develop citizens of character dedicated to serving their nation and community while the AFROTC’s mission is to develop quality leaders for the Air Force.
