HOW YOU CAN HELP YOUR CHILD AT
HOME
Reading
Please spend time reading with your child. They will be bringing home their school reading
book but don’t feel that it is the only book you can read with them. If you prefer, choose a
book from home or a library book and record that in your child's reading record. New reading
books will be issued when the teachers feel the child is ready. Please comment in the record
when you have read with your child.
In 3/4, we aim for all the children to complete the three comment challenge. This
is where every Friday we check that the children have read with an adult three times by
checking their reading record. The children earn a Western point and a small prize at the end
of the half term.
Spellings
Your child will be sent home with a spelling list to learn. They will be tested every week on
these spellings. These will be regularly revisited to ensure your child has mastered these
spellings.
Maths
By the end of Year 4, children should have learned all of their times tables.
What to do at home
• Bolling Hall trip: Wednesday 2nd and Friday 4th November (Approx.
£10.00). Letters to be sent shortly.
• Creative Christmas: December (Approx. £2.00).
