Ant’s Eye View
Materials Needed:
Magnifying glass
Hula hoop (optional)
Paper and pencils
Camera (optional)
Description:
Find a spot to place your hula hoop (or a hula hoop sized area). Once you have your
spot, get down on ground level and see your chosen area from an ant’s view! See
how many different things you can find and try drawing or writing down what you
see. If you have a camera, you can try taking pictures too!




How does it look different down at this level?
Do you see insects? What are they doing?
Does this make you think differently about micro-habitats at your feet? How
so?
How often do you think these micro-habitats change? Would it look different
if you came back in a week, a day or an hour?
