SMART Sympodium Smart Sympodiums are interactive pen touch displays which allow users to control and write over computer applications. How do I use this? 1. To start, turn on the Extron touch-screen display panel by pressing the touch here to start button. 2. On the Extron touch-screen display panel, select PC 3. Ensure the Sympodium display is switched on by pressing the Power Button on the front of the display. 4. Log in to the PC using your Anglia Ruskin Username and Password. 5. Use the tethered pen to touch the display and select applications. Interactive display screen The tethered pen acts like a mouse because it allows you to control your applications like you would with a normal mouse, but it also enables you to write or draw in digital ink over any application. The display screen has three sets of buttons and indicators. • • Pen-tool buttons to enable digital ink located centrally at the top of the of the display screen. Function buttons to enable mouse modes, keyboard and launch on screen floating tool bar located centrally on the bottom of the display screen. Function Buttons The function buttons provide quick access to a number of frequently used tools. Press a function button to launch the On-Screen Keyboard, the Floating Tools toolbar or the Capture toolbar. Pen Tool buttons Pen tools allow users to use the tethered pen as either a mouse or to draw digital ink over any open applications. These tools enable users to select different digital ink colours, erase any digital ink or return to using the tetherered pen as a mouse. Using Digital Ink To write notes using digital ink on your desktop applications: 1. Pick up the tethered pen 2. Press a pen-tool button to select your digital ink color 3. Write on the interactive display. 4. To erase your notes, select the eraser,and move the pen in a smooth motion over your notes. 5. Press the left mouse button to return the pen to mouse mode. Battery free tethered pen: You can conveniently control your computer from the display and comfortably write over any application with the battery-free tethered pen. Illuminated console buttons: Using the illuminated console buttons, located on the top of the display screen, you can access the right-click button, select pen colours, the eraser, launch the On-Screen Keyboard or Screen Capture tool. How do I use this? 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. Press the Power button on the large Extron display Select Press here to begin on the Lectern display panel You will need to ensure that the Lectern PC is on. If not, press the Power button located on the front of the PC to turn the PC on. On the Extron touch-screen display panel, select PC Log in to the PC using your Anglia Ruskin Username and Password using the keyboard Once logged in you will have full access to your Anglia Ruskin desktop. You the SMART tethered pen to tap the SMART Podium computer screen to open applications. TIP: Using PowerPoint Presenter View with SMART Podiums When using presentation view you can use the SMART podium pen to annotate over your slides during your presentation. To enable this function, ensure that you press one of the SMART colours buttons to engage the ink.
