2008
The company acquired Rexam’s high barrier food container
business last year and is showcasing its latest developments
including a straight-wall plastic can that can be fully sterilised in
batch and continuous retorts.
The company said that recent new customer successes included a
range of ambient ready-meals in its high-barrier 99mm diameter
bowls, closed by a double-seamed easy-peel metal end, for Czech
food producer, Hame.
It also created the 200g Hormel Spam high-barrier plastic pack
which features a heat-sealed membrane and re-closable lid. The
latter has a shelf-life of up to two years.
Silgan also worked on the packs for Fray Bentos Meat Puddings. A
lightweight plastic bowl incorporates an easy-open metal end.
