Georgia Museum of Agriculture Camp Wiregrass A day camp program focusing on Georgia history and natural resources. Children ages 4-11 can enjoy the Georgia Museum of Agriculture this summer with Camp Wiregrass, a day camp program focusing on historical and natural resource themes. Campers will explore southern Georgia’s rich history and natural resources through hands-on, interactive activities, games, and crafts. 2013 session descriptions on back! Thank you to Friends of the Museum for their wonderful donation to reduce camp cost for everyone! Munchkins (4-5 yrs old) Munchkin campers will enjoy stories, games, and crafts. Camp will be 8:30am-12pm and will include a small morning snack. Original cost: $103 Cost after the Friends of the Museum’s donation: $75 Explorers (6-8 yrs old) & Trekkers (9-11 yrs old) Explorer & Trekker campers will enjoy interactive activities, games, and crafts throughout the week. Camp will be 8:30am-3:30pm and will include an afternoon snack. Campers will need to bring a sack lunch and to prepare to get wet during most afternoons. Original cost: $200. Email questions to [email protected] or visit www.abac.edu/museum/kids-camp. 2013 Summer Sessions Munchkins (4-5 yrs old) May 28-31, 2013: Animal Antics (4 day camp due to Memorial Day) While exploring the needs of humans and animals, campers will meet the local animal residents at the Langdale Nature Center. Activities include fishing, bug exploration, and feeding farm animals. Due to age, Munchkin Camps run from 8:30-12:00 and do not include time for lunch. Explorers (6-8 yrs old) June 3-7, 2013: Wilderness 101 This week focuses on exploring our surrounding forest while learning various outdoor survival techniques. Campers will build shelters, visit with Langdale Nature Center’s resident animals, and learn basic orienteering skills. June 24-28, 2013: Wiregrass Time Travelers Campers will experience mid-1800s southern Georgia culture through interactive activities such as wool/cotton processing, wagon rides, cane pole fishing, traditional games, and historic baseball. Come travel back in time to discover life before TV, computers, cell phones and iPods! Trekkers (9-11 yrs old) June 17-21, 2013: Nature’s Artists Have nature’s beauty inspire your camper to create their own piece of art. Campers will create various art projects inspired by nature hikes, stream exploration, and local wildlife. Program includes discussion in photography, sculpture, drawing, and painting techniques. Campers will showcase their projects at the Georgia Museum of Agriculture. Campers will need a camera. July 8-12, 2013: Native American Explorers Campers will explore Native American history and culture. Throughout the week, campers will learn primitive hunting skills such as archery; discover the importance of games to keep tribal peace; and experience various life skills such as gardening and rope making. Special Girls Only Session (9-11 yrs old) June 10-14, 2013: Victorian Adventures This week targets our female campers ages 9-11 years old who are interested in experiencing life within the Victorian Era (19th century). Campers will explore high society and working class as they learn how to host tea time; make rag and corn husk dolls; embroider a sampler; cook a traditional 1800s meal; and make candles. The week will end with the girls hosting an afternoon tea time for their special invited guest. This session is $170/camper, runs from 8:30-3:30 and includes snack, t-shirt, and all supplies.
