Rotonda, places to visit and things to do
Rotonda is one of the small, delightful communities located on the Cape Haze Peninsula in Charlotte
County in the south Gulf Coast of Florida. This is a tranquil area of unspoiled natural beauty and a
rich history. Cape Haze Peninsula is approximately 100 miles south of Tampa, between the cities of
Sarasota and Punta Gorda. It rests on the waters of the Myakka River and Lemon Bay. Known for its
diversity, it includes the other unique communities of El JoBean, Cape Haze and Englewood. Together
these communities make up one of the fastest growing areas of the state, each with its own distinct
flavour. Beautiful white sand beaches provide sunbathing, swimming and beachcombing. Golfing,
tennis, hiking, biking, boating, fishing and other watersports are available in Rotonda. You can enjoy
canoeing, kayaking, searching for seashells or do nothing except enjoy the exotic sunset over the Gulf
of Mexico. When you visit Rotonda, you discover a part of Florida that is off the beaten path unhurried, unspoiled and uncrowded. This region is often called “the gem of the Suncoast,” and when

Rotonda is a residentially developed wildlife sanctuary of approximately 20,000 acres. The
residential developments, including Rotonda West, wind through golf courses and the freshwater
canals dredged to form the land. A quiet community, its thirty-five hundred or so residents fish, play

Rotonda West is just a short 15 minutes drive from the beach side town of Englewood on the Gulf Coast

Visitors to Rotonda (sometimes spelled as Rotunda) can easily tour the Southwest Florida cities of Port
Charlotte, Punta Gorda, Venice, Fort Myers, Naples, Tampa, St. Petersburg and Sarasota by car. Getting to
points south requires driving north, east and then south to circumvent Charlotte Harbor. There you'll find
Sanibel and Captiva, Cape Coral, Fort Myers and Fort Myers Beach. However, one can investigate all these
areas and Pine Island including Matlacha, Bokeelia and St. James City as well as the "bridgeless" islands of
North Captiva, Useppa, Don Pedro, Palm Island and Little Gasparilla much more quickly and easily by boat!
This area is equidistant from the Sarasota International Airport or The Southwest Florida International
Airport just southwest of Fort Myers.
