Halsey ‘Closer’ – For the sixth straight week, American duo The Chainsmokers are #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart with the Halsey-featured track Closer. Once again, the track is #1 on both the UK and US charts. #2: Sia Feat Kendrick Lamar ‘The Greatest’ – After debuting at #25 last week, ‘The Greatest’ has jumped 23 spots in its second week on the chart. It becomes Sia’s fifth top ten single and equals her previous peak set by her first top ten, ‘Chandelier’ (#2 Apr. ’14). #5: Ariana Grande Feat. Nicki Minaj ‘Side To Side’ – A jump of two has given Ariana Grande her third top five as a lead artist on the ARIA Singles Chart. Her previous top fives were with ‘Problem’ (#2 May ’14) and ‘Break Free’ (#3 Jul. ’14). #14: Lady Gaga ‘Perfect Illusion’ (debut) – Lady Gaga returns to the ARIA Singles Chart for the first time in almost three years with ‘Perfect Illusion’. The first single to come from her forthcoming fifth studio album, Joanne, is Lady Gaga’s 19th appearance as a lead artist in the ARIA top 50. The track was co-written by Lady Gaga, Mark Ronson and Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker. It features guitar work by Queens Of The Stone Age’s Josh Homme. Lady Gaga last charted with ‘Dope’ (#34 Nov. ’13). #24: Zara Larsson ‘Ain’t My Fault’ – ‘Ain’t My Fault’ climbs up eight spots to #24 in its second week in the top 50. Albums: Top 5: 1. Jason Aldean ‘They Don’t Know’ (debut) Albums Chartifacts: #1: Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds ‘Skeleton Tree’ (debut) – The sixteenth studio album from Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds gives the iconic group their second #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart. The release of the follow-up to Push The Sky Away (#1 Feb. ‘13) was accompanied by the limited release of film One More Time With Feeling, in lieu of interviews or live performances. Skeleton Key is the fifteenth Australian #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart in 2016, breaking the record of 14 set in 2013. #2: Safia ‘Internal’ (debut)– Canberra trio Safia hit the Albums Chart for the first time with Internal. The indie electronic act’s debut album features the single ‘Make Them Wheels Roll’ (#45 Apr. ‘16). They previously featured on the Peking Duk single ‘Take Me Over’ (#6 Dec. ‘14). #3: Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt & Emmylou Harris ‘My Dear Companion: Selections From The Trio Collection’ (debut) – This compilation brings together the works of the country super group of Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt & Emmylou Harris. It consists of tracks from their two studio albums, Trio (#12 Mar. ’87) and Trio II (#66 Mar. ’99), as well as alternate takes and unreleased material. Dolly Parton also debuted last month with Pure And Simple (#9 Aug. ’16). #5: Jason Aldean ‘They Don’t Know’ (debut) – The first top ten appearance for American country artist Jason Aldean. They Don’t Know is Aldean’s seventh studio album and second to hit the top 50, following on from Old Boots, New Dirt (#13 Mar. ‘15). #7: Bastille ‘Wild World’ (debut) – Album two and a new peak for British band Bastille.
