Dear valued CCC Internet customer: Since we began to offer High

Dear valued CCC Internet customer:
Since we began to offer High Speed Internet service to our customers, our goal has always been to offer the most
reliable, fastest high speed internet at a competitive price, giving you the most control over how you use it and when
you use it.
As more bandwidth is consumed, we buy more bandwidth and perform costly plant upgrades to keep up with the
demand. In the past 2 years, we have quadrupled our incoming bandwidth, have performed system upgrades 3 times to
increase capacity, and are scheduled to do it again in 6 more neighborhoods soon.
While we have done everything we could to continue to provide a truly unlimited service and keep up with the demand,
we are finding that it is no longer possible with usage of internet increasing like it has in recent years without either
raising rates or implementing a metered data cap.
Effective April 1, we are implementing a data usage policy of 300GB per month. Should you exceed 300GB, a charge
of $10 per 50GB of data will be added in quantities of 50GB.
To compare to our competitors, AT&T’s limit is 250GB, Satellite internet providers such as Excede, Hughes, and WildBlue
will allow anywhere from 10-50GB. Most Cellular data plans include up to 10GB max.
We designed this to have the least impact to the most of our customers. The majority of our customers are using 150GB
or less. Based on trends we’ve observed, only 2% of our users exceed 300GB on a given month. Additionally your
CCC Phone service will not count toward your usage.
To help you see what your data usage is from month to month, we will also show what your previous month’s total
usage was on your monthly statement as a line item. You should be seeing this information on this month’s bill.
Here are some ways you can minimize or prevent overages on your internet service:
 Make sure your wifi connection is secured with a password, and that only people inside your home or apartment
has that password.
 Turn off your computer when you are not using it. This prevents background downloads from happening when
you are not using the computer.
 Turn off file sharing software such as Bit torrent, Kazaa and others. They use your bandwidth to share files you
have acquired (and could get you into trouble should it be copy written material)
 Turn off auto-play on your video streaming service, such as Youtube, Neflix, or Amazon Prime. This way you
control when the next episode of a series you are watching, and shows aren’t playing while you are asleep or
away from your tv using up bandwidth you aren’t enjoying.
We do appreciate your business. You have our promise that we will continue to improve and work hard to provide the
best service available. We feel that this will also make our customers more conscious of their data usage, resulting in a
better internet experience for everyone.
If you have any questions about your usage, and how this impacts you, please let us know.
