Maya
A.D. 300 to A.D. 900 is when the Maya ruled.
Cities were religious centers. 2 of these cities were Copan
and Tikal.
Large pyramid temples where Mayas worshipped
stood in the Middle of cities and farmers worked in the
surrounding fields.
Corn or maize was the Mayans #1 crop.

Art- refers to the martial arts of Maya civilization, and
Eastern and Southern Mesoamerican culture
Food- much of the Maya food supply was grown in forests
and gardens
Clothes- Girls wore a huipil which is a garment worn as a
blouse. Guys clothes have a large variety from religion
to religion
When they were conquered they became slaves

Maya priests studied stars and planets and designed an
accurate calendar which to decide when to hold religious
they used ceremonies.
The Mayans developed a system of writing using symbols
and signs called Hieroglyphics.
At 900 A.D. all the Mayans left.
PokATok was one of the mayans favorite games.

Customs- everyone in a family would live together and when
a person would die they would bury them in a house or tomb
with their special belongings.
The Mayans live Central American in mostly the South
Mexico area.
Copan was the Mayans capital.
Human sacrifices were one of the main sacrifices for Gods
but blood was the 1st. For A sacrifice they would rip out
someones heart and offer it to the Gods or throw someone
off a cliff. They believed the blood made the Gods stronger.

No one knows who conquered the Mayans.
Quatzequatel was the name of the Mayan God.
Quatzequatel means Winged God.
Maya life revolved around religion. Mayans believed the
world was a tree where the branches were in Heaven and
the roots were in an underground world.
Maya Temples as some of the world's greatest temples.
They have been around for ages.

Maya warfare can be identified from archaeological
remains. There weapons include obsidian blades and
projective needles and other weapons.
The Long Count, the Tzolkin, and Tlach, make up the
Kalyan calendar. The 3 calendars are used
simultaneously.This calendar includes 365 days, 18
months, and 20 days in each month.
The Mayans lived in Mud Huts

Mesoamerican Ballgame was the Aztecs favorite game.
The Aztecs customs is how they make clothes, shoes,
rugs, etc.
Hernán Cortés was a conquistador who conquered them.
Tenochtitlan was the capital and center of trade.
Montezuma was the ruler.

Huitzilopochtli was the Aztec's Sun God
Their was food mainly squash.
Art- like their culture and religion
French was the Aztec's main language.
Crops- maize, squash, and beans
Calendar- 365 day cycle called xiuhpohualli and a 260 day
cycle called Tonalpohualli

Weapons- armor, shield, helmets, and offensive tools such
as bows, arrows, spears, throwers, and darts
Clothes- men and women both wore earplugs and women
also wore skirts and men wore capes

They settled in 1200 in Cuzco
Sacrifice- they would fatten the person up, send them on
a March, then dragged them before death

The Incas tradition was writing.

Cuzco is a village in the Andes which is now a city in the
country of Peru. This was the Inca's 1st settlement.
Most Inca were farmers who grew corn or other crops
Most of the Inca lived in mud huts.
Inti was the strongest, biggest, and the most major god
to the Inca's. He was the Sun God.
