CHAIRPERSON OF BOARD OF GOVERNORS: MRS A HIGGINS
VICE-CHAIRPERSON OF BOARD OF
GOVERNORS: MR S McMULLAN
Annsborough Integrated Primary school is controlled by the South Eastern
Education and Library Board.
The school is situated in the village of Annsborough approx. 1 mile from
Castlewellan.
Established in 1835 for the children of the millworkers, it occupies the
original building, the interior of which has been modernised to meet the
current demands in the changing face of education.
It remains one of the few completely integrated schools in the Province
having both Catholic and Protestant staff and pupils.
As such, it aims to encourage children from both religious communities to
accept and respect each other’s traditions and religious beliefs.
The school is comprised of three large classrooms each providing ample
space for all activities necessary to fulfil the needs of the curriculum.
In implementing the curriculum the staff aims to ensure that each child
reaches his/her full potential in each of the areas of study. Within the
classroom each teacher strives to establish a friendly and effective
relationship with the children, based on mutual respect
which results in a pleasant family like situation.

Pastoral Care in Annsborough
Integrated Primary School
The Pastoral care Policy of Annsborough Integrated Primary School
emphasises the responsibility of all staff, teaching and non-teaching, to
recognise the importance of a caring, supportive and safe environment for
children so that they can develop their talents and abilities to their full
potential with confidence and self-esteem.
In our policy a special emphasis is placed on personal safety. Through
different curricular activities children will learn about various types of
abuse, helping them to recognise unwelcome behaviour in others and
develop the confidence and skills needed to keep themselves safe.
All staff and volunteers have been subject to appropriate checks and have
adopted a Code of Practice for behaviour towards children.
The procedures on Child Protection are to protect all children and ensure
the care, welfare and safety of each child. Our Policy provides clear
guidance for everyone who works in this school- teachers,non-teaching
staff and volunteers. Any problem of child abuse will be investigated with
the full awareness that some forms of child abuse may constitute a criminal
offence.
Our pastoral care programme in Annsborough Integrated Primary School
permeates every aspect of the life of this school – academic, social, physical,
moral and religious. We strive to ensure that all members of our school
community feel valued and sustained as we grow together.
