SUN SAFETY
As we experience what (hopefully!) will be a glorious summer, a few safety reminders…
Children are encouraged to bring in a named, plastic water bottle (with “sports-cap”) for use
with the classroom drinking water taps. Children may bring a hat (preferably with a brim) to
wear at breaks and lunchtimes. These should be clearly named. Clive Mark has a range of hats
with our school logo. Parents are encouraged to apply sun cream to their children before they
come to school and to teach them how to apply it. Children are then welcome to bring their
own sun cream into school and apply it themselves at lunchtime. Children may wear sunglasses
for breaks and lunchtimes, but please ensure that the glasses are clearly named.
Parents should note that we do not allow children to remove their shirts/T-shirts at
breaks/lunchtimes/PE/Games lessons, that children are not allowed to share their sun cream
with other children and that the children will be brought inside if the weather gets too hot
and sunny.
NEWCASTLE SWIMMING GALA
Congratulations to our swimmers from Years 5 and 6 who were runners-up in the Newcastle Small
Schools’ Swimming Gala, recently. All the children who took part represented the school brilliantly and
combined together to produce a fabulous result. Congratulations to Jessie-May Bridgwood and Jacob
Ibbs who won their individual events, Jacob, Chloe Milford and Christina Atkins who won the freestyle
relay and Jacob, Christina and Jessie-May who won the overall medley relay! Team - Jacob Ibbs,
Christina Atkins, Lily Kiernan, Abigail Hazlewood, Alex Dale, Lucy Wright, Harry Stevenson, Lizzy
Gater, Ben Watkin, Chloe Milford and Jessie-May Bridgwood.
