Spelling Week 24 :
The following table explains the spelling rules we are reviewing right now. There are words that follow the rules included
as well as a dictation sentence. Students will be learning and practicing the rules at school, so no homework with these words
is required (unless you choose, as the parent, to do so). On the date indicated above, students will be quizzed over 10 of
these words and the dictation sentence. There will be a bonus/optional word given that will follow the rules, but is not
included on this sheet.
REMEMBER:


A vowel team syllable is a combination of 2 vowels that give a LONG sound (except one special
combination that is short –ea ).
The first vowel is usually long, the second is silent. THEY MAKE ONE VOWEL SOUND (except –ea
which can be both long and short).

I team: ‘ie’ is very rare and comes at the end of a word or syllable.
