Transformation
To You From Andrea
As we complete the transition out of spring into
summer, the days become
longer we are more active in
our movements. Fruits have
begun to ripen; here we
meet the developmental
portion of the 5–Phase cycle.
This second phase of life is
represented by the process
of maturation: the actualization of a thought or project.
This is the time where our
dreams, or a beginning of a
thought or process that was
birthed in spring, now,
through proper cultivation,
begins to manifest and
become a reality or truth.

Summer Tips:
Moving + sweating = dehydration. Prevent muscle soft-tissue injuries
caused by dehydration by increasing your fluid intake moderately, not
excessively. How to know when is enough: your urine should always
have color to it. Excessive urination can cause loss of mineralization,
nutrients and yang (body) energy.
During summer, your body’s energy, or yang, is the most outward that it
will be for the entire year. Take precautions by not eating too many raw
fruits and vegetables which, unlike popular belief and practice, can
drive the body into a “cold” state that is in conflict with summer’s
desires. Cultivate your life force by preserving yang (life and warmth). If
you tend to experience gas or bloating after eating a salad or fruit, your
digestive fire (your metabolism) is impaired – try adding warming
herbs like nutmeg to the dish. Remedy this condition easily now
before it carries into the next season with a simple appointment to see
your herbalist !
