CENTRE MANAGER’S NOTE
Welcome to Paradise Kids Children’s Centre and a big hello to all our new families! We are sure that your
child/ren will enjoy the time they spend here at our centre and will have many happy learning moments to
add to their already creative and imaginative minds.
It is very important to remember that this is your child’s centre so please feel free to offer ideas and
suggestions throughout the year. If you have any concerns also please talk to us so we are aware and can
address these immediately.
Each day we reflect on the day’s activities and experiences the children have enjoyed throughout the day.
The emphasis is to get more family input/feedback into our program so we can meet the needs of our
families. The children are always so proud of their work and they love to share it with you. Families are
asked to take a minute or two to have a look at the page and write a comment or two in our family
suggestion area. We look forward to your feedback.

INFANTS/ NURSERY
Hello Families and Friends,
What an amazing and learning rich month May has
shaped up to be in the Nursery and Infants Room.
Firstly we would like to welcome our new families to
our room, as we welcome Ellis, Bjorn and Evelyn. We
look forward to a year of building strong, safe, secure
and reciprocal relationships with our new friends that
are full of fun, learning and development.
This month we have focused our learning program in
two learning goals:
Goal One: Learning through Play and
Goal Two: Building the children’s language and
communication.
This month we have focused on increasing the
children’s abilities, strengths, likes and developmental
milestones, through a variety of play experiences that
have been fun, challenging and stimulating, that in
turn encourage learning through play. These
experiences have been set up both in the indoor and
outdoor environment, and have encouraged
participation and many valuable learning moments.
This month we have encouraged a variety of arts and
crafts, ranging from using large pastel crayons, finger
painting, hand printing and experimenting with chalk.
We have encouraged physical fitness, climbing and
building gross motor skills, by incorporating daily
music and movement classes, interacting with the AFrames outside, sand play, riding bikes, trampoline
play, building on our walking skills, foam matt obstacle
courses, and encouraging climbing, jumping and
building our core strength.
Language has been displayed as a key interest among
the children this month. We have been focusing on
building the children’s language skills on a daily basis
to support their increasing abilities. We have
incorporated daily group times and discussions that
are language rich, and use repitition as a way of
increasing the children’s language and memory recall.
We have used daily routines, and meal times as perfect
opportunities to encourage intentional teaching
practices to further support the children’s learning
about their names, peers, manners { Saying “Tar” and
“Thankyou”} educators, objects and needs. Music and
movement classes, song time, story time and daily
activities have all assisted the children’s learning,
participation and development in this area.
In addition a popular group time, this moth has been
introducing the children to our sensory/ feel it bags
that are filled with an assortment of fabrics, colours,
textures and shapes. We have reinforced the
associating language of the objects, and allowed the
children, to touch and play with the different sensory
objects, which has been great to see. The children
have enjoyed putting the different fabrics up to their
faces and feeling the textures and then offering that to
their peers.
We would like to thank the parents input for
encouraging Language and communication as a
learning focus for this month as it has been a great
success, and will be incorporated it on an ongoing
basis. We welcome all Parents input, feedback and
suggestions regarding their children’s learning to assist
a great partnership in working together to achieve the
children’s developmental milestones and goals.
This month we had a visit from Lola from Rhythm
Rumble, who shared a beautiful music session with us.
Lola sang a variety of different songs and lullabies,
with different beats and tempo for the children to get
involved with. Lola introduced musical instruments to
the children to play and experiment with alongside the
music, the maracas proved to be the most popular
instrument of choice amongst the class and
encouraged participation. However it wasn’t until Lola
brought out the large colourful parachute alongside a
beautiful lullaby that the children were heavily
engaged, and enjoyed watching the parachute go up
and down, feeling the sensation of the parachute and
the wind caused by the movement. The music class
was a lovely experience, and supported the children’s
creativity, expression and wellbeing. We can’t wait
until our next class next month.
This Month we have been preparing for the up and
coming celebration of Mother’s Day. We have
incorporated making handmade mother’s day cards
and gifts with the children in our arts and crafts area.
The children have enjoyed playing and experimenting
with paint, crayons and paper in making their beautiful
master pieces. We would like to thank all of our
mums, families, and friends who attended our
Mother’s Day Afternoon tea, in making it so special
and memorable. We all our Mums have a fabulous
Mother’s Day.
Furthermore all feedback and suggestions are most
welcomed and appreciated. Please feel free to discuss
any matter regarding your child to room staff at any
time.
Until next time,
Lydia, Meana, and Jacque.
TODDLERS
We’ve had a good start to the month, with a lovely Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea. It was nice to
see our families who attended, the children loved spending time with everyone and eating the
yummy treats. We hope all our mums have liked their present.
Bubbles are a favourite at the moment, and our bubble maker is outside and the children run to
catch them. Together with the Junior Room children next door, the two rooms are gaining
friendships with one another, developing language and social skills. As the older children have
further development communication skills, its great for our Toddlers to have the opportunity to
play with the older children. Educators have noticed that within the last few months, the small
sentences we are hearing from the Toddlers is amazing!
In our art corner the this month, the group are becoming very familiar with chalk, and extending
their fine motor coordination. The little pieces are allowing the children to gain confidence in
holding such items in a sort of pencil grip, which will help with writing in the future.
Hope and Ben have a continued to develop on their friendship that begun last year. They sing
‘Ring-A-Ring-A-Rosie’, holding hands and spinning around in circles. Singing songs that require
actions is good listening practice to follow instructions. We have also played ‘Simon Says’ which
the children love, while waiting for our lunch to be served.
Our with our current focus on animals, we will continue to included activities to encompass this
and further relate this to involve identity. Look out for our own lion creations!
We would appreciate any creative ideas in relation to animals and encourage families to be a part
of our program.
If you have any questions feel free to come see Toddler staff Emily, Kat or Lisa.
JUNIORS
Dear Families,
We would like welcome all the new families
that have started in Junior room this month.
Its great see that all children are settling in
well and enjoying their time and forming
new relationships with educators and
children. The children are enjoying their
time and learning a lot throughout the day.
Our projects this year in the Junior room is
seasons. We began by learning about and
exploring summer through activities and
displays within the room, and now we have
moved on to Autumn. Please free to look at
our Project display book. All the children
have participated in many different activities
relating to Autumn including, pasting,
cutting, watering the gardens, collecting
autumn leafs etc. The children have had a
big interest with the natural materials they
have found out in the yard and we have
included this in their project of learning
about the season.
Thank you to all the families that have
brought in Recycled materials for the Junior
room. We are now starting a garden wall
outside where the children get to participate
and learn about how plants grow, and they
get to water and plant their own little plant
as well. If you have any more recycled
materials, it will be greatly appreciated.
The children thoroughly enjoyed making
things for their Mums and Nannas for
Mother’s day! They continued making and
creating whatever they could to take home
to their families. We also had lots of fun at
out Mother’s day afternoon tea and getting
to spoil our Mums and Nannas. They
enjoyed sharing their experience outside
with their families and doing little activities.
We would like to thank everyone who came
down and celebrated the Mother’s afternoon
tea with us.
We have now created an art work box where
each of the children will have a file with all
your children’s art work that they have done
throughout the year. All families are
welcome to take art work home and have a
look of what the children have created.
We would like to wish all of our families a
Happy Mother’s Day!
Thank you
Junior room Staff
PRE-KINDER
The cold weather has started in Term 2. The children have been busy with indoor and outdoor
activities. In May we have celebrated Mother’s Day where the children helped and participated in
baking, learning a song and making beautiful gifts for their mothers. The children had a great
time-sharing their experience with their mothers, grandma and aunts with a performance of the
song ‘I love my Mummy’.
The Pre-Kinder children have been enjoying doing activities and group discussion on our project
about animals. They have learnt about dinosaur names, insects/bugs, farm animals and sea
animals and learning the difference between carnivores and herbivores. Within this month’s
project they really enjoyed exploring insects outside and role-playing animals around the room.
As extension to learn about nature the children have helped to water the garden and did a fun
activity with our student Kimi, making grass heads.
We have been promoting and encouraging children with self-help skills which include serving
themselves during morning tea time and having water. The children have learnt about sharing,
portions and having to challenge their fine motor skills in using tongs.
With a focus on science we have been experimenting with sight and sound with children closing
their eyes and then opening, and holding their ears and letting go relying on other senses. They
all understood the concept really well and enjoyed the experience.
Please encourage children to wear beanies, jumpers and jackets for the cold weather and please
label them. If you have any concerns, feel free to ask our Pre-Kinder educators
Menaka, Daniella and Anna
KINDER
Dear Parents and Friends,
As the weather starts to get a little more chilly
now, it is great to see the children rugging up
with their jumpers and beanies and enjoy getting
out into the fresh air for some outside play.
This is a great time for them to release some
energy and build on their gross motor skills. We
have introduced the skipping rope and played
games such as “snakes” by which the children
need to jump over the rope as two children
wriggle the rope along the ground.
The children have also enjoyed building with the
large plastic bricks, using their imagination and
co-operation skills as they work together to
build a creation with the bricks. They have also
used these as a means to line up in a row to
balance and walk upon.
Some children have brought along their soccer
balls and this has been a great opportunity for
them to build on their sharing and turn taking.
Our current focus for the month is letter
recognition. We have set up an alphabet chart
with bottle tops for the children to identify and
match. We have currently undertaken various
activities with the letter A and B. This has
involved, colouring, tracing, ripping and cutting
paper to make a banana collage, singing songs
related to the alphabet and reading stories. Our
focus for this week is the letter C. Some
activities planned for this include identifying and
examining a real life caterpillar, reading The
Very Hungry Caterpillar story and caterpillar
craft making. All these activities not only look
at letter recognition, but create the opportunity
to build on the children’s social, co-operation,
listening, fine and gross motor skills which in
turn gives them the foundation to learn to read
and write.
It is essential for the children to learn these
foundations first before they are ready to read
and write. This is why play based learning plays
an important part in the kindergarten program.
This is also a great opportunity to go over the
Kinder Rooms flexible routine. The morning
begins with family grouping, free play, group
time, morning tea, indoor/outdoor play.
Approximately from 11.30am, group time,
lunch, quiet time, free play, group time,
afternoon tea, indoor/outdoor play and ending
the day with family grouping.
Group time involves stories, songs, games,
structured learning and show and tell. Currently
during morning group time we learn the name
of the day and go through the days of the week.
Also, based on Alana’s interest in Italian and
Samantha’s in French, we are learning Hello in
different languages.
Finally, a big thank you to all the Mums,
Nannas, Grandmas and Aunties who came to
our special Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea. It was
lovely to see all the families coming together and
watching the joy in the children’s faces as mum
and child played and created together while at
Kinder. We hope all the Mums had a lovely day
on Sunday.
Kind regards,
Bahia and Simone
Kinder Room.
