FAME classes Starts
We are so happy to welcome everyone back to the
2014-15 school year. As we establish expectations
for the year we ask that parents please give us the
needed time to establish routines and procedures
with the students. In that regard parents may drop
scholars off at the cafeteria in the morning. In the
past parents often pull teachers in the morning to
conference which interrupts morning entry routine
and distracts the teacher from tending to all
scholars. If you need to send a message to the
teacher in the morning, please write a letter and put
it in your child’s folder or leave a message in the
office. We will deliver all messages in a timely
fashion.
Volunteering in the classroom
Parents are welcome ore welcome to volunteer in the
classroom between the hours of 9:30am-3:30pm. If
you will be volunteering in the classroom you must
make prior arrangements with the classroom teacher
and check into the office. KUSD requires a
background check on all volunteers; please get the
necessary paperwork from the office. Please call if
you have any questions.
Communicating with the teacher
Parents please note that you are welcome to email,
write or call your child’s teacher and they will get
back to you within 24 hours. Please note that you will
not be able to communicate with the teacher during
arrival. If you have to relay an urgent message please
write a letter, jot a note on the assignment sheet or
leave a message for the teacher in the office and we
will deliver it in a timely fashion. In an attempt to
ensure uninterrupted entry routines parents will drop
child(ren) off in the cafeteria in the morning.
Hispanic Heritage Month
During National Hispanic Heritage Month
(September 15 to October 15) we will recognize the
contributions made and the important presence of
Hispanic and Latino Americans to the United
States and celebrate the group's heritage and
culture. Hispanics have had a profound and
positive influence on our country through their
strong commitment to family, faith, hard work,
and service. They have enhanced and shaped our
national character with centuries-old traditions
that reflect the multiethnic and multicultural
customs of their community.
Arrival to School
EBSOLA Creative Arts begin school at 8:50am; scholars may
begin arriving to school as early as 8:30am. Please do not
drop off or send your child to school before 8:30am. Dual
Language begins school at 8:00am and we do not want to
interfere with their arrival time. We want to respect the
school that we share the building with. If you have children
in both Creative Arts and Dual Language please notify the
office and we will make arrangements for one pick up and
drop off time.
Parent/ Teacher Conferences
Please save the date, our Parent/Teacher Conferences
will be held Wednesday, October 22th4:15-7:15pm.
Thursday, October 23th 5:00pm-7:00pm, and
Thursday, October 24th 8:15-10:15pm. More
information will be sent home, including an RSVP signup.
Attendance Matters
Please make sure your children(ren) are at
school everyday and on time. School hours are
8:40am-3:50pm. (12:35pm on Fridays).
Scholars with perfect attendance the end of
the year will receive a new bike! (Please note
perfect attendance includes: no absences for
any reason, no tardies, no late arrivals or early
dismissals.)
MAP Testing
This year all grades K-5th will participate in MAP testing. We
will begin MAP testing Monday, September 8th. Please make
sure your child(ren) eats a hearty dinner and receive plenty
of sleep. Also, speak with them about doing their best
during testing. Please contact Ms. Beal with any questions.
Coffee with the Principal
Come and share your thoughts and ideas over
a cup of coffee with Mrs. Easley on the 1st
Friday of every month. We’ll meet
immediately following our Family Affair
(approximately 9:30) beginning October 3.
Counselors’ Corner
Parents and Guardians,
We have a waiting list for students that would benefit from having a mentor
here at EBSOLA. Mentors meet with their assigned student once a week
for approximately 30 minutes. They can help students with all kinds of
issues from academic to social. Please contact one of the school guidance
counselors at 359-2300 if you may be interested in this program.
Also, if you feel that you may need a little extra help for the upcoming
holidays we do have a system to put your child’s name into based on a
lottery system. We have various agencies that will offer different kinds of
help to our families. While we can never guarantee help we can put your
child’s name into a lottery system if we have more names than help
available. Again, please contact one of our school guidance counselors
concerning this in the near future.
