SERVICE CO-ORDINATOR:
Salary: c£28,000
Harborough Christian Counselling Service in Market Harborough, Leicestershire, which has
been in operation for 17 years as the Bower House, wishes to appoint a Service Co-ordinator
to lead, inspire and direct the service into the future.
The Bower House offers counselling and support to a wide range of people at times in their
lives when they need non-judgemental support. The service is open to people of all faiths or
none.
The service has over 45 volunteer counsellors delivering in excess of 3200 counselling
sessions a year. 20 - 30 support workers ensure the smooth running of the house and provide
a welcoming environment to all who use the premises.
Co-ordinating activity and ensuring adequate numbers of competent volunteers are available
and supported to provide a quality service is challenging. It needs someone who is able to
manage diverse personalities and styles to realise their potential and give of their very best.
The person appointed will be a qualified counsellor able to supervise others; provide support
to all volunteers who work within the service and liaise confidently with a wide range of
professionals who make referrals into the service. There is a need to have excellent
networking skills and to be able to operate in an environment where there is no guaranteed
income and increasing demand. There are however a committed group of volunteers who
create a generous, giving environment valued by those who become engaged with the service.
Applicants are required to have a Christian commitment and be able to uphold the Christian
Ethos. As there is a need to lead prayer and participate in regular worship within the Bower
House this is therefore a Genuine Occupational Requirement in terms of the Equality Act
2010. The hours are for 37 a week and the post is suitable as a Job share. A current DBS is
required.
