How do I know where to apply based on what the schools need?
Answer: Partners should apply where ever they would be able to provide services
pending funding.
What is the role of the high school principal in the funding process?
Answer: Principals and their leadership teams review the proposals and are
guided through the process by the Directors of High School Success through
United Way for Southeastern Michigan.
Can the Program Staff Contact and ODM contact be the same person
for one organization?
Answer: Yes. An agency is able to have the same person who oversees the
program as well as provides all information in the UWSEM ODM system.
How can my Organization receive Donor Designated funds?
Answer: Yes. Organization needs to be a 501c3 non profit organization and
annual runs a UWSEM workplace campaign.
In applying for funding, do we pick all 15 schools? Or do we pick and
choose?
Answer: Organizations need to select the schools in which they have the capacity
to serve.
What if my organization wants to be in more than one school?
Answer: If your organization wants to be in more than one school, choose best
practices.
Looking ahead to 2018, are any of the 15 Turnaround Schools closing?
Answer: None of our network schools are in danger of shutting down.
How does it work in ODM, if you want to provide two services in one
school and one service in another?
Answer: Check off the two schools and break down the rest within the narrative.
How would the partnership be affected should the leadership in the
school change?
Answer: While there are sometimes bumps in the road, your agency is funded
for one year.
What are the “high performing” schools?
Answer: There are none in that zone but we have examples of some that are
close. There is still work to be done.
How has the culture of the schools been enhanced?
Answer: Things that have worked in terms of enhancing the culture and the
performance of the students.
Have you funded any programs that are off-site?
Answer: Yes. But the hitch is that most students don’t want to go off-site. But
we’re open and we will be offering more funding for off-site programming.
What would be an impact on the smallest level?
Answer: Take 10 kids for example, monitoring changes in their
behavior, doing better academically and improving attendance.
