We work with Fair Trade suppliers to produce a well-designed collection that respects people and planet. We give design and technical assistance to help marginalised artisans and craftspeople overcome the barriers of selling their products. We pay our producers a fair price, offer advance payment when needed and commit to a long term partnership. We also set best practice standards in environmental practice in garment production. Candidate Profile • A minimum of 3 – 5 years’ experience of garment technology as well as Production Management. • Experience working with Indian producers is essential, Bangladesh and Nepal preferable. • Comprehensive knowledge of garment construction, fabrics, testing, compliance standards, production and manufacturing techniques. • Excellent planning, organisation and negotiating skills. • Excellent communication skills, ability to motivate producers. • Good knowledge of Microsoft office suite, in particular Excel. • Interest in Fair Trade and Ethical standards and sustainable fabrics. • Up to nine weeks per year international travel required. Role Description Production Management • Overseeing the entire production cycle and ensuring it is being followed by all producers and the People Tree team. • Responsible for communicating and resolving production related issues promptly. • Make minimum 2 production trips a year, each trip of around 3 weeks throughout India and Bangladesh to visit producers and their sub-contractors. • Ensure producers are fully aware of People Tree’s requirements regarding product, quality and delivery procedures. • Ensure that all products branding and labelling is in line with the company policy and adheres to trading standards. • Procurement of all labels and stock label management, ordering of garment components, trims and care labels. • Monitor producers and their subcontractors to ensure they are following People Tree’s compliance standards, company's policies and goals. • Work closely with rest of team to ensure production is cost effective, good quality and deliveries are on time. • Attend fit sessions. Supply Chain Development • Make minimum 2 producer trips a year, each trip of around 10 days, to work on fabric and supply chain development. • Work with producers and sub-contractors to develop and manage their own critical path for garment production, and expand their skill base and capacity. • Review and compile regular reports on producer production capacity and development highlighting any training required. Quality Assurance • Work with producers to manage quality assurance proactively and prepare feedback for each producer. • Monitor the quality of garments during production and manage in house quality control after delivery with the tech assistants. • Employ and manage the 3rd Party QC overseas and manage the tech assistants during QC in UK.
