Step 1
Project time does not include drying time for the glue.
Step 2
Enlarge project template to 133 percent, then download and print.
Step 3
Find 14 buttons of the same size in the package listed under supplies and put them aside.
Step 4
Cut the following pieces of felt:
2 Decorated Red or Solid Red 9 inch X 12 inch pieces for front and back of bag.
2 Decorated Red or Solid Red 3 inch x 12 inch pieces for the sides of the bag.
1 Decorated Red or Solid Red 3 inch x 9 inch piece for the bottom of the bag.
Step 5
With right sides together, stitch the front to the side along a 12" edge with a ¼" seam allowance. Stitch the same
side piece, opposite long edge to the back of the bag with right sides together. Stitch the final side piece to the
opposite long edge of the back and then finally stitch the last long edge of this side piece to the remaining long
edge of the front of the bag. (See Figure A of template).
Step 6
Lightly iron the seams open. (Use a polyester setting on the iron and do not overwork or allow the iron to set. Tip: it
might be helpful to use a practice piece of felt before actually ironing on the project.)
Step 7
Carefully pin the bottom piece of felt in place, with right sides together to the bag. Pin the corners well.
Step 8
Flip the bag inside out.
Step 9
Cut a White piece of felt that is 1-1/2 inch x 24 inch and carefully glue in place at the top edge of the bag.
Step 10
Cut 4 pieces of Solid Red felt that are 1-1/2 inch x 20 inch each. Glue 2 pieces together for a double layer carefully
and allow to dry.
Step 11
Glue one edge of a double strap inside the top of the left front of the bag next to the side seam. Glue the other end
next to the side seam on the right front of the bag. Repeat with the other double strap on the back of the bag.
Step 12
Cut out the Christmas tree of the Decorated Pirate Green or Solid Pirate Green felt. Glue it to the bag front.
Step 13
Glue the ric rac to the front of the tree like garland, trimming the edges as you go.
Step 14
Glue the buttons on to the ric rac in an ornamental pattern.
