Please join us as we celebrate 600 acres of newly restored Illinois prairie and other amenity improvements at Muirhead Springs Forest Preserve in Hampshire. This 800-acre preserve has undergone major renovation since being acquired by the Forest Preserve District of Kane County. The hundreds of acres of prairie here are sure to be a popular spot for grassland birds including bobolink, dickcissel, grassland sparrow, eastern meadowlark and more. Preserve amenities include: • • • • • • • Over four miles of multi-purpose, limestone trail, suitable for hiking, bicycling or equestrian use Interpretive signage A picnic shelter with electricity and grill Drinking fountain Restrooms A paved entrance drive Two parking lots including one with equestrian trailer parking We’ll celebrate Kane County’s newest improved forest preserve with complimentary light refreshments, nature hikes, horse-drawn wagon rides, a scavenger hunt and more.
