Thursday / jeudi 13 Surrey Public Library talks in the afternoon Friday / vendredi 14 La franco-­‐manie de la semaine: Cet/te un! / Celui-­‐ci ou celle-­‐ci! Translation: This one Why it is tricky? “This” can be translated as a demonstrative adjective – cet/cette – or a demonstrative pronoun – celui/celle. Demonstrative adjectives (this, that, these, those) are words used in place of articles to indicate a specific noun. In French, they must agree in gender and number with the noun they modify: Ce is the masculine singular demonstrative adjective: Ce prof parle trop. -­‐ This (That) teacher talks too much. J'aime ce livre. -­‐ I like this (that) book. Ce becomes cet in front of a masculine noun that begins with a vowel or mute h. Demonstrative pronouns (this one, that one, the one[s], these, those) refer to a previously-­‐mentioned noun in a sentence. They must agree with the gender and number of the noun(s) they replace: celui -­‐ masculine singular / celle -­‐ feminine singular / ceux -­‐ masculine plural / celles -­‐ feminine plural Year-­‐end Events As we draw closer to the end of the year, we would like to inform you about the special activities/events coming up: June 19 1:30 Kindergarten celebration in the gym – all Kindergarten parents and guests are invited June 21 Games Day – our grade 7 students will plan and lead the games for all Kindergarten to grade 6 students. Students will go from station to station with their class. Parents and guest are invited to watch. More info to come closer to the date. June 25 1pm Grade 7 Farewell assembly – the grade 7 Band will perform, presentation of certificates, medallions, and awards. Parents and a maximum of two guests per student are invited to attend. June 27 11am Year-­‐end assembly – students and parent recognition, slide show. Very limited space for parents as assembly is attended by all the students. Parking Tip of the Week Calling on parents who want to be part of the solution! Only 15 minutes of your time before and/or after school – depending on your availability -­‐ is required to help direct traffic in the parking lot at pick up and dismissal time. Training provided. Mme Weghsteen’s class go to Crescent Beach Games Day Special Lunch Community Events/Opportunities From the Frontiersmen of the Commonwealth We are looking for a school crossing guard for Ecole Laronde to do crosswalk at 130th Street and 16th Avenue between the hours of 8-­‐9am and 2:15-­‐3:15pm.
