The legend of Robin Hood
There once was an outlaw, in a time long ago
Who was swift with a sword and great with a bow.
With a hood round his face and a tunic of green
His skill with a longbow had to be seen.
Throughout Sherwood Forest, his bold band of men
Would swoop on the Normans, then hide in their den.
He robbed from the rich, to give to the poor.
Robin Hood was a brave man, of that we are sure.
The Sheriff of Nottingham wanted him caught
But his courage and daring beat all who he fought.
Will Scarlet, Friar Tuck and big Little John
Were all at his side in battles he won.
With the flight of an arrow or clash of broad swords
These outlaws would bring down their cruel Norman lords.
As a hero to Saxons, it wasn’t too long
Before minstrels and poets put his deeds into song.
His life is a legend. Who he was, still unsure
But he robbed from the rich and he gave to the poor.
