pressive in term s of teaching and explanatio n. Anyway, I am sending impressive this letter in order to explain an engine oil com pany advertisem ent. I would like to share my feedback with you as you may find some comments to reply. Nowadays, m any companies are trying to use special ways for their advertise ment. I was attracted to an advertisem ent and tried to analyze what was happening in it. T his advertisement is for Castrol engine oil company and it chose one of the best soccer players around the world, the Real M adrid Portuguese star, Christiano Ronald. In this advertisement, I found some illogical comparison s. Is Christiano Ronaldo a car?! I think the principle of false analogy can be clearly seen in this advertisement. Ronaldo says: “football takes me to different places, cold places, hot places …. .but I prepare for it all ” and in every m om ent the advertisem ent show s you a car that can do the same in different climate conditions. In m y opinion, hum an s can adapt to these conditions in different way than cars can . ? The other point that I noticed is about performance. “In my life people expect all the best perform ance”, Ronaldo says. Using excellent oil with good viscosity and standards will im prove the car perform ance to the m axim um possible level. Does Ronaldo ne ed oil for his best performance? For human s , the best perform ance can be achieved by consuming healthy food, maintaining a positive life style, and exercising which are totally not related to Castrol oil in this advertisem ent. On the other hand, many companies bring famous people to act in their advertisement. The idea of false testimonial is very clear in this advertisement. “Castrol is best for perform ance….Castrol EDGE is m ore than oil, it’s liquid engineering”, Ronaldo says. W ell, if you attend a l ecture on Art by a me dical doctor, what would you say ? W hat is happening here is exactly the sam e. A football player has deep experience to know if this oil is good or not! ? Ultimately, I think that this advertisement is just trying to dece ive people . The company used a very popular sport game (soccer) and one of the most famous soccer players around the world (Christiano Ronaldo). It’s not i mportant for the company to advertise logically . Actually, the advertisem ent does not consider the false analogy, bandwagon, and false testim onial factors. Instead, marketing is unfortunately the main goal.
