Wednesday
Today will understand the Scientific
Method, an extremely important topic
in Biology, by learning the sequence of
six steps (Observation & Asking a
Question, Hypothesis, Experiments,
Data Analysis, Conclusion, and
Communication) of the Scientific
Method and the importance of the
assessed by pop quiz 20 out of 25
which shows good understanding.

OPENING ACTIVITY: 5 MINS.
INDIVIDUAL PRACTICE: 15-20 MINS.
Question of the Day (QOTD) relating to the Characteristics of
Life or Scientific Method in attempts to provide an
introduction, for my students, of the information being taught
this week while taking attendance.
My students will do a four corners with each group
has a step.
I will be introducing the Scientific Method/Process (SM/P) in
small steps.
COLLEGE & CAREER READINESS SKILLS: 5-10
MINS. Two questions from the NJBCT (Ne
Jersey Biology Competency Test) practice
exam.
DIRECT INSTRUCTION: 5-10 MINS.
I will be introducing the Scientific Process.
Today’s Vocabulary (ELL OBJ): Observation, Asking
Questions, Hypothesis, Prediction, Experiment, Data Analysis,
and Communication.
Differentiated Learning: In class/during the block
“Study Table” with concept check.
CLOSURE/ASSESSMENT: 3-5 MINS.

Verbal formative assessment-What’s the 1st
step of the Scientific Process

Clean up!
GUIDED PRACTICE: 15-20 MINS.
My students will be introduced to the Scientific Process in this
way:

The first step will begin by urging my students to try to
put the 6 steps of the Scientific Process/Method in order.
Each table will have the 6 steps on cards & they must try
to put them in order without looking in the textbook per
table.

I will reward the groups with the correct sequence or
those closest to the right sequence
