A realistic vision
Wankdorf City is a brand that speaks for itself in terms of prime
location, situated as it is at the largest commuter train station
(S-Bahn) in the canton. It consists of a core subcity area around
the Bern-Wankdorf station and is synonymous with an independent urban identity. The new quarter will grow in stages, as market
conditions allow. The city of Bern is relying on architecture devoted to the idea of holistic quality. The object is to create a high
quality workplace that also reflects the spirit of our times.
Wankdorf City will become a business address for numerous
service businesses from a wide variety of sectors and for public
administrative agencies and serve as a workplace for as many
as 6 000 people.

The project idea was worked out in a master plan and presented
as an interesting concept in line with the market. The Wankdorf
City concept within the BB4/6 construction zones also allows
leeway for dividing individual construction areas more precisely
into lots and thus for planning and creating other dimensions of
use and building volumes.

The new Bern-Wankdorf commuter train station is a guarantee
for excellent accessibility. The surplus land zoned for construction
and the planned construction activity also give the area around
the Bern-Wankdorf station an unmistakable identity as a kind of

emanating from the Bern-Wankdorf station and the nearby access
