These ready-to-use math activities are the perfect way to give
students independent practice! Whether you place them in your
math center, give them to early finishers or use them as morning
warm-ups, the activities provide students with valuable
reinforcement in essential skills.
Using the Activity Cards
Choose a card that you would like a student to work on. You can
also allow students to choose cards for themselves. Students can
then take the card to their seats and complete the activity on their
own paper or in their math journals.
Students can use the included answer cards to check their work.
The activity cards are numbered for convenience.
NOTE: Some problems have answers that vary. These answers are
not included on the answer cards. You will need to review these
answers if you wish to assess students’ work.
Meeting Individual Needs
ELL - Work with students in a small group. Review and model the
activity instructions, as well as the geometry skills being covered.
Model the activities, writing the answers on the board. Have
students write their answers in their journal or on paper, and then
turn them in to you for review.
Reteach/Extra Support - Identify the geometry activities that
students are having difficulty with. Model and display geometric
shapes and attributes using manipulatives or overhead materials,
while reviewing the steps that students will use to complete the
activities. Have students work on selected cards so that they are
engaging in targeted review. After students complete an activity,
meet with them to review their work and address any other areas
they need to work on.
Challenge - You can also have students create their own activity
cards. Provide students with 5" x 3" cards, along with markers,
colored pencils, etc. Make sure the students create cards that have
clear solutions! Place the new cards in the storage box for other
children to try.
