Alderwood Water and Wastewater District is a special
purpose district responsible for providing water and sanitary
sewer service to areas within southwestern Snohomish
County. In 1933, the District installed approximately 14,000
feet of water main pipe along the east side of Highway 99
between 152nd Street SW and 116th Street SW, and another
13,000 feet of water main pipe on the west side of Highway
99 in 1946. The water mains are nearing the end of their
structural lives and are being replaced to improve the District’s
water service infrastructure. This project will also help assure
the community safe, reliable water service, and help prevent
major traffic interruptions in the future to repair breaks in an
aging water main. The Highway 99 Water Main Replacement
Project will replace the original 1933 and 1946 water mains
with approximately 29,000 feet of new water main together
with replacement of fire hydrants and water services along
Highway 99 and other areas as shown on the project
area map.

location. Project areas are primarily located in unincorporated
Snohomish County with a small portion in the City of Everett.

Construction is scheduled to begin in spring
2012 and will continue through summer
2013. Water line installation is scheduled for
completion by fall 2012. The contractor will
return in spring 2013 to complete final paving
for all areas of work. Work in residential areas
will be completed during daytime hours, while
Highway 99 construction will occur at night.
