Pouncing Tigers Summer Program Weekly Themes 2017 Leadership Training June 26 – June 30 Ground Work & Grappling July 17 – 21 Benefit from the arts of Brazilian Jujitsu and Russian Sambo. Turn the tables on a bigger opponent trying to hold you down. Being safe while on the ground is too often overlooked. This kid-‐ friendly approach will develop a love for Ground Work and Grappling. Weapons Week! July 24 – 28 Standing in front of everyone does not make one a leader. Getting others to listen, trust and follow is another story. Even the most timid can learn to stand up and take charge. The dojo is the perfect place to develop this skill that will last a lifetime. Warrior as Healer July 3 – 7 Starting off with an extreme sense of responsibility, students work with Nun chucks, then Kali Sticks, Sai, Sword and others. They build coordination, strength and self-‐confidence, and have a blast! Ninja Week July 31 – Aug 4 “Martial Arts” separates itself from Combat training in large part with its concern for physical and emotional health. Many foundations of Chinese medicine can be practiced from a young age. Western and Eastern viewpoints of the human body will allow our young warriors to also be healers! Throws, Falls, Tumbling July 10 – 14 Learning to fall not only protects you when you stumble, but it feels good to know you won’t get hurt. This week we’ll take that skill to the next level. Think Parkour on the safety of mats. From Ninja Turtles to Ninjago, we all wanted to be ninjas at some point, right? This is a fun week to develop those ninja skills! Build and throw (paper) ninja stars, sword fight, rope walk, hide in plain sight, disappear like a ghost, confound your enemies (but not your parents) and work those mad ninja skills. For ages 5 years to 12 years Kung Fu Movie Making Aug 7 – 11 Put it all together and have some FUN! Students will produce their own KUNG FU style movie and you get the DVD! Feel free to show it at the rehearsal dinner of their wedding. Oh, yes. Intensive Full Cycle Belt Promotion Aug 14 – 18 It normally takes four months of work to move on to the next belt level. This week they train for 5 hard days to get promoted. Don’t fear. They can do it. Plan on getting to their belt test at the end of the week to show support and see what they can accomplish when they put their mind to the task. Bully Proof August 21 – 25 Bullying takes on many more forms than ever before. Without effective strategies in place anyone is susceptible to the physical and emotional scarring that can be caused. This week is the best preparation for the new school year.
