Here is hoping that you have been fast enough all spring to catch those muddy feet before they run into your house reminding us that days of clean snow and the winter months are now gone. I've now begun to realize that easy-toclean tile in the house has been one of my best investments thus far! With the months of May/June we mark the start of the spring/summer competition season. To welcome it with ready and eager dogs, our membership has been hard at work setting up various clinics, seminars and workshops. You will no longer have an excuse for not having at least JWD (Junior Water Dog) title following your dog's name. In the east on June 11th there was a Beginner Water and Stewards camp in Ariss, Ontario and in the West on June 18th and 19th the Alberta Portuguese Water Dog Club hosted a Junior/Apprentice and Apprentice/ We are pleased to welcome Working Water and Stewards workshop in Buffalo Lake, Alberta. a new member to our board, As a club we should take great pride in not only being involved in hosting such events but Danik Dancause has been encouraging members and new PWD owners to take part in our activities. For PWD's, past and appointed to join the PWDCC present, working in water is a natural fit. Water work is exciting and easy for new PWD owners Board of Directors by the to take part in as any healthy dog over the age of 6 months who has shown a desire to swim Board. See more about Danik (in and out of the water dish) and has basic obedience (basic retrieve and recall) can partake on page 8. He will replace in a water workshop with great enjoyment of both dog and handler. Manon Bousquet, who is resigning after serving this club for 5 years. Two other members have resigned, Jan Daly of Britsh Columbia and Sharlene Krupp of Nova Scotia. We thank all for their work on behalf of our club. If you are unsure if your dog is quite ready or if you feel you are looking to learn a little more before jumping in feet first, come out and watch in amazement our breed's eagerness, intensity and strong swimming and retrieving abilities. Our second PWDCA sanctioned Water Trial is scheduled for August 13-14 in Ariss Ontario under Judge Charles White, see page 13 for more details. Go try it out!
