WEEK 2
Life Ap: Forgiveness—deciding that someone who has wronged you doesn’t
have to pay.
Basic Truth: I should treat others the way I want to be treated.
When someone hurts you, how does it make
you feel? Hurt? Angry? Frustrated? If you’re not
careful, those feelings can take over. But God
wants you to remember that He has forgiven
YOU. Remember, God sent His only Son, Jesus,
so that you could be forgiven of your sins.
That means that God wants you to treat others
the way HE treats you. That’s why if someone
hurts you and then says they’re sorry, you should
forgive. God loves you and He wants good things
for you, including good relationships with others.
Since God forgave you, you should forgive others.
Bible Story Summary: God showed us just how much He cares about
forgiveness when He made the ultimate sacrifice and sent Jesus to pay the price for
our sin. While sin separates us from God, He offers grace and forgiveness as a gift
for us to receive. We have been forgiven of so much, it’s only right that we turn to
those in our lives and offer forgiveness to them in return.
One of Jesus’ parables about forgiveness can be found in Matthew 18:21-35. Jesus
tells the story of a servant who likes to live it up—even though he’s weighed down by
MILLIONS of dollars in debt! This servant gets a big break when the king forgives his
debt. You’d think he’s got it made—until he finds a man who owes him a few bucks.
You’d think he’d pay it forward and cancel the debt, but that’s not what happened. He
gets caught when he didn’t forgive others like the king forgave him.
Since God forgave you, you should forgive others. Forgiveness is full circle. God
chose to forgive us when we had a huge debt against Him because of our sin.
Because we are forgiven of so much, when others hurt us, we should respond with
forgiveness in return. We pray that kids will start to realize how they can forgive
people in their life.

THANK forgive, too.
DAY 2
Read Matthew 18:21-22
Peter asked Jesus, “How many times should we forgive someone? Seven
times?” “Nope, seventy-seven times,” Jesus replied. Really? Seventyseven times? That’s a lot, isn’t it? What if I lose count? Well, that’s exactly
the point. Jesus wanted Peter to stop counting and simply choose
forgiveness instead.
No one wants to be friends with someone that always keeps score. When
someone does something wrong and asks for forgiveness, forgive them.
Don’t keep track. Whether it’s the first time, or the seventy- first time,
choose forgiveness.
Download David Crowder’s song “Forgiven”.
As you drive this week, listen to it over and over to
remind you of God’s forgiveness to us.

God to help you forgive as He’s forgiven you.

We all know what it’s like to repeat ourselves over and over when
kids or people aren’t listening. But one saying that never gets too
old to hear repeatedly is, “you’re forgiven.” God asks us to offer
never-ending forgiveness because that’s what He’s done for us.
And offering forgiveness takes practice. It can be hard to offer
forgiveness at the end of a long day or after a fight, but when
we don’t forgive we can miss out on what God has ready for us.
Challenge yourself to be eager to forgive.

DAY 4
Bibles N Bucks Shopping Schedule:
Read Colossians 2:13-14
Ask an adult to help you gather the following supplies from your kitchen: a
container large enough to hold four cups of liquid, some powdered drink mix,
water, a large spoon and bleach. Pour two cups of water into the container.
Everything looks clean right?
Now pour some powdered drink mix into the water and stir. When we sin or do
wrong things, our lives start to look like this water. It’s not so clean anymore
right? That’s why Jesus came to forgive us. He died on the cross and rose
again so that we can be forgiven.
Ask an adult to carefully pour in some bleach. What happened to the water?
It’s clean again! The Bible says that when we put our trust in Him, we become
new creations! Because God offers forgiveness to you, you can forgive too.
Remember this experiment the next time you’re tempted to stay mad instead
of forgiving someone. Since God forgave you, you should forgive others.
