PRAYER DURING LENT!
We all have friends and family who don’t have Jesus as Lord and I’m sure that
we try and pray for them as often as we can (or remember). However, this Lent, I
wonder whether we might all ‘up the stakes’?! You will have each been given a
sheet of paper with the numbers 1-40. The concept is a simple one – please write
the names of 40 people you know who don’t have Jesus as Lord. They could be
family, friends, neighbours, work colleagues, teachers etc. The challenge is then
to pray for each of them by name every day during lent. That’s 40 people every
day. We might call this 40 prays for 40 days (if we allow ourselves to overlook
the grammar!). This will of course increase our contact time with God (a good
thing!) and will, I am sure, provide opportunities to tell those we know about the
Lord Jesus (also a good thing!). The only decision now is ….. will we commit?!

Welcome to our Morning Service
As a Church family please use these prayer points as part of our daily prayer
life.
 Let’s pray that we are a Church that seeks Jesus in all things.
 Please continue to pray for Mica Lawrence and her new baby boy, Zion.
 Please pray for us as we continue our study in the book of Romans; pray
that we would submit to the authority of the Lord Jesus.
 Please pray for ‘The Recovery Course’ that will be run at St Dionis
Church. Give thanks for Lauren Windle who is leading it; pray that she
would grow closer to the Lord Jesus as she serves him in this way.
 Please pray for those who are unwell; pray that they would keep their
eyes fixed on Jesus at this difficult time.
 Please pray for William and the St Michael’s trustees as they prepare to
submit the plans for the building to the council. Give thanks for God’s
generous provision thus far.
 Please pray for hearts that would be generous in responding to all that
Jesus has done for us.
 Please pray for us as we meet during Lent; pray that we would know
more of God’s will for us.
 Please pray for perseverance as we each pray for 40 people every day
during Lent.
 Pray for those couples whose banns are being read; pray that they would
enjoy a life-long marriage.

LENT – WHERE TO LORD?
We will, as in previous years, be meeting each Monday during Lent to spend
time studying the bible together. Please make these times together a priority by
putting all of them in your diary now! We will meet at 7.45pm for coffee and will
start at 8.00pm. We will be using material from a course called ‘Where to Lord?’.
Amid the many choices and decisions of daily life, we need to ask “What does
God want me to do with my life?”. The six studies on guidance will help us plot
a course through these difficult issues.
The study guides are now available and cost £3. Please see William today!
THE READS, OUR MISSION PARTNERS
From Sandra Read in the Philippines: Holistic mission takes in all aspects of life.
It’s about understanding people’s concerns for their children. It’s about checking
our reactions towards appalling driving manners. It’s about making decisions
on how to help without creating dependency. It’s about making choices such as
whether to spray weedkiller or do tedious hand weeding, which is better for the
environment. It’s about how to counsel a Christian couple who fight endlessly.
It’s about deciding how to talk to the neighbour whose chickens are creating
havoc with the mulch on our guavas. It’s about discussing with seminary
students that we should not only focus on people’s spiritual needs but be
concerned with their physical, emotional and social needs too. Holistic mission
is living the everyday life and intentionally making the choices that help us to be
God’s instrument for blessing. Why should we do it? Because it is a natural
consequence of what happens when we love, honour and obey God and follow
the Lord Jesus........We do get tired. We have friends but it can get lonely. We
get discouraged and wonder if we are doing the right thing. We worry about
our children, the weather, the pound falling. Our faith gets weak and the vision
of ministry gets dim. And this is when your prayers can make a difference so
please keep praying for us.
(This is part of a moving article Sandra wrote for the CMS magazine. If you
would like to read the whole article, ask Sue for a copy.)
THANK YOU
Thank you to everyone who helped at Messy Church last week. A fab time was
had by all! Please do pray for this brilliant initiative – that many would come to
have Jesus as Lord.
