Parapat
The town of Parapat is the main tourist resort and lies on the very shore of Lake Toba. This lake is about 50
miles long and 16 miles across, with a depth of about 1,400 feet. In Parapat live Batak Toba and Batak
Simalungun tribes, and are happy and easy going people. They are known for their lively and sentimental love
songs. Parapat is 176 from Medan and can be reached in 4 hours by bus. The climate in Parapat is cool and
dry, making Parapat an ideal place to relax.

Lake Toba (Danau Toba) is the largest lake in South East Asia and is located in Sumatra, Indonesia. Lake Toba
is an immense volcanic lake covering area 1707 sq km (bigger than Singapore) with an island in the center.
Formed by a gigantic volcanic eruption some 70,000 years ago, it is probably the largest resurgent caldera on
Earth. Some studies say it might have been associated with causing previous ice age/ climate change and the
largest human population bottleneck ever.

Simarjarunjung, a mountainous area at the edge of Lake Toba, has a cool / fresh climate. It is an ideal tourist
destination and a lot of domestic and international tourists visit this place. From the top of Simarjarunjung we
can see the very beautiful panorama around Lake Toba, especially when the sun rises in the morning.
Sipiso Piso Wat erf all
About 45-minute journey by car from Berastagi is the Sipiso-piso Waterfall, a narrow waterfall in the Karo
highlands, falling from a height of 360 feet into a gorge. This area is famed for its beautiful and panoramic
scenery with green hills and the magnificent Lake Toba as its picturesque background.

Berastagi, a tourist town. The town is known for its plantations and various kinds of flowers, vegetables and
fruit, most famous which is Marquisa passion ruit. It's 66km southwest of Medan and is 4.594 feet above sea
level. From this city, the visitors will enjoy charming scenery to the active mountainside, which are Sibayak
Mountain and Sinabung Mountain. If you love flora and fauna then this is the place for you as North Sumatra
is well known for it's flora and fauna.
